Can't throw that ball, Rickie.

 

Questionable throw, no doubt. But it is possible to execute that throw without chucking it into the dirt with no prayer of being caught. That was like a Prince Fielder throw to the plate. Terrible.

 

Apart from the mechanics of the throw, which I agree should be better, he needs to just use his head when he sees Segura racing to the bag. So he didn't have to just make a good throw, he had to make a really good throw to a moving target who then also had to make a good play himself to record the out. Rickie had to know the downside risk and the relative unimportance of the runner being at 3rd there. It's just poor awareness, and that bugs me just as much (more, actually) as the mechanics.

 

And now he makes another poor mental play as I'm typing.

Rickie has been so frustrating. And it isn't just this year. I'm not going to get up in arms calling for him to be benched or anything, but would a day off really hurt anyone? His head is not in it right now, and that's pretty easy to see.

Doesn't matter now but, I think Lucroy was trying to frame that pb. According to baseball prospectus he's one of the best at framing.

If Weeks is up to bat in the 9th, the Brewers need to pinch hit for him.

Any chance we see a miracle in the 9th to keep the streak going? it just seems like one of those nights where the opponent's pitching is awesome. the body language of the players looks kind of lethargic. oh well no biggie.
