Japanese Single-Season HR Record Falls

Wladimir Balentien hit HRs 56 and 57 to break the most protected record in baseball. There's talk about this being the result of Japanese baseball becoming more foreigner-friendly, but I think it was just too much of a foregone conclusion for anyone to try to prevent it, as Balentien still has 17 games to play. I got to see him play once this year, but he went 0 for 3.

For a guy to spend 6 years in the minors and have a .221 AVG between the Mariners and Reds, it's pretty crazy he was able to go there and put up 57+

Hopefully this will give more credence to the theory that myself, and lots of other people have held, the MLB changing the ball had more to do with the homerun increase than steroids did.
