So RRR plunks holiday next time up, right? I hate the beanball stuff, but This can't continue unchecked.

So, what you are saying, is this aggression will not stand, man?

Not gonna happen. RRR doesn't get involved in that stuff.

I understand it and respect it. But this Gomez stuff is ticking me off. Maybe they're trying to egg brewers/Gomez into doing something dumb. Just don't want to see GoGo get hurt.

The idea here is that "plunking Holliday will make the Cardinals stop doing this"

That's the fallacy in the idea. Because the Cardinals will never stop playing this way as long as they have a LaRussa progeny (Matheny) at the helm. The only way to get the payback is to drive that runner in. We did that. Payback acquired.

Matheny is only watching on the telly anyway.

Was he tossed? I might have missed it.

Yep, went out when he got Wainwright and complained about the call that was reviewed for the auto-toss.

The Cardinals want to incite a beanball war and turn games chippy, because that's how they play. Retaliating in any way other than beating them and pointing to the standings just fans the flames. It's not just the Brewers that this happens with - there's history with the Reds, Pirates, Cubs...pretty much every division team deals with this from the Cards from time to time.

Honestly the only way this sort of crap stops happening is for MLB to wise up and allow umps extra leeway to toss a pitcher for hitting a batter when there's history of an organization that's always involved in this garbage. I'm sure the Cards would start thinking twice about this if Wainright had gotten tossed and then suspended 5 games so he'd miss his next start by MLB after Gomez got plunked - with grounds for both the ejection and suspension being the Cardinals are notorious for inciting these exchanges and throwing at guys.

If u are squeamish, don't watch the Paul George video from tonight. Just brutal...

Man I feel bad for Pacer fans. Hope he comes all the way back from that.

Lucroy with 7 RBI in his last two ABs following a batter being HBP? (Intentional HBPs, at that.) Good teammate, clutch stuff.

It has been proven time and again that it is ok to hit Brewers, there will be no retaliation. As long as that continues, the plunkings will also continue.

The fact Gomez got drilled and no one even batted an eye is telling about the attitude of our manager.

The Cards know better than anyone else that our guys are fair game.

Gomez has been hit by Cardinal pitching in the last 4 games against them.

Whether or not you agree with payback, this is not an acceptable trend, and it needs to be addressed. Whether that means retaliation or addressing it to the league is not up to me, but it needs to be addressed.

With two outs in the ninth and a 5 run lead, what are you walking a .190 hitter on 4 pitches for?

Hard to believe that Gomez doesn't just go off the hook! If anyone is going to come unhinged, it's him... He must be doing everything within his power to take this crap.

Yes. You put it much better than I did. Thank you.

If it's on the back and leaves a bruise for a couple days it's easy to shrug off. When it's at the hands it's harder to swallow - a bruise affects a swing, and there's 27 bones per hand to break. But not like beaning them back will stop it.

Gomez almost lost it when he was walked and almost hit on the ball 4.

As much as I hate the Cards, I don't want umpires to just start tossing guys because of a history. That takes away pitching inside and draws into question every hit batter and every pitch that causes a hitter to move his feet.

Ok, retaliate. Hit a guy. HEre is my question, and no one will ever answer it. Do you believe that it will make the Cardinals stop hitting batters? WHich is the stated purpose, yes? Why else are you giving a free base runner?
