I am beginning to doubt Santana and his being a big part of our future. The guy just does not impress me, offensively or defensively...

Immensely streaky guy. I'll give him time, but it won't be forever.

Too young to toss in the towel.

This game feels like it's going to be a heartbreaker

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

I was watching MLB Network in the top of the 9th. The commentators (FWIW) didn't hate not walking the bases loaded, though they leaned that way. They said the thought process was that you'd rather take your chances that the game might get tied up when your team hits in the bottom of the inning than risk the Cubs taking the lead with a bases loaded hit. The way the infield was aligned, the Brewers were conceding the run in the middle of the infield, but coming home if it was hit to the corners. Basically, trying to avoid the big inning while still having the chance to win the game outright.

Whether or not one agrees, that was likely the thought process.

But the guy at first doesn't impact that. With that defense a grounder up the middle scores the run. With a guy at first, that same ball is a double play (or at least a chance)

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Put a scare into the fans at Miller Park. Okay Brian. Just ignore the fact that it's at minimum a 50/50 split between fans.

Watching Counsell manage, he looks like a kid. I just can't stop thinking that he's the real life Billy Heywood.

Well, good news is that if this keeps going on, Cappy's been pretty solid this year AND he's a pretty good hitter. Need to stop them here in the top of the 12th, though.
