I found this interesting, not that I necessarily agree with all of his picks, but mock drafts are always interesting. He has us taking Daniel Bard (RHP) from North Carolina with our first round pick.

I kind of like Daniel Bard after reading about him, sort of a Sheets-lite with a good fastball and curve. Does anyone know if he has any semblance of a change-up, or is he also Sheets-like in that regard at the same point in their development?

I don't know if Bard is that good of a comp to Sheets. His stuff may be similar,but wasn't Sheets far,far more dominant statistically in college? Bard's numbers are rather average. I thought it was interesting that Sickels had Jared Hughes still available for the Crew in round 2. Some consider him a possibility for #16. To me, he doesn't K enough for a 1st round pick, but I'd be excited for him in round 2.

Keep in mind it's a fan participant mock draft.

 

And X is right, Bard isn't much like Sheets at all. He can hump up his fastball like Sheets does, but that is about where the comp ends.

The same thing struck me...I'd be very happy to get Hughes in the second round.

 

Bard has been linked to the Brewers before IIRC, but my sense is that he hasn't lived up to the hype.
