Thoughts on the Brewers claiming Jumbo Diaz. The late inning relief is sketchy and he will be better than Cravy. My guess is he'd be a fan favorite on day one.

Sure, I'd have no problem with it. Had a really weird year last year with a nice ERA but terrible FIP. He did finish strong, so I don't know. He's obviously cheap and so if you can add him and stash a guy with options that otherwise would have made the roster, why not.

I see no reason to waste a 40 man spot on a 33 year old with terrible peripherals.

I'd rather keep with Cravy. The guy has struggled when asked to start, but done pretty well in relief. He's had a 2.18 ERA as a reliever (33 IP) vs a 6.09 ERA as a starter (38 IP). Obviously, small sample sizes.

Diaz certainly seems like a Melvin guy, hard thrower with not much else going for him. Stearns seems to like guys that can consistently throw strikes. I lean more towards the Stearns view of things so I would pass on him.
