pitching correlation help

1) Is the correlation of a pitchers ERA and record better

than a correlation of a

2) pitcher teams run support and record.

 

hope this make sense.

 

I would vote for #2...

Common sense tells us that their correlation should be equal. ERA is essentially "runs scored" and run support is "runs against." Since ERA doesn't include unearned runs, run support might have a tad higher coorelation?

Are you talking about indivual ERA vs. record, or team ERA vs. team record?

Given that

 

d(W)=0.10*d((1.0)*Runs For - (1.0)*Runs Against) or

d(W)=0.10*d(Runs For - Runs Against)

 

I would say runs scored and runs allowed would have equal correlation since they have equal coefficients.
