Badgers look sluggish. Biggest issue obviously that foul on Davis...looked ugly. Hope he is okay. It would be beyond sad if Nebraska costs this team a chance to make a deep run.

 

Edit: looked like medical staff was giving Johnny's dad an update. Saw him give thumbs up. Looked okay.

 

My guess is Davis is in concussion protocol/getting a facial X-ray. Looked like broken nose is possibility. 10 days from NCAA tourney, both of those not great outcomes...but not like a busted knee either in terms of his ability to play and play well.

Yeah they had 3-4 go halfway down and come out down the stretch when they just needed one bucket. And Crowl inexcusably misses a wide open layup. oof, oh well still champs

 

Edit: I am going to look at it as we were due to lose a tight one down the stretch and this was the game to do it. Plus it's possible this could put the Gopher in last place.

The season hinged on Davis' injury the second it happened.

 

Him not coming back to the bench feels like a bad sign. Hope I'm wrong. Injuries do impact seeding. I wouldn't be surprised if the Badgers land at 5 or 6 should Davis prove unable to go.

 

Should be getting some word soon. Losing is a bummer, but really, I don't think it matters one bit in the long run if Davis is healthy (or if he's not).

Realistically this team is a 4-5 seed. They’ve had a horseshoe in their back pocket for so many games this year. It will be a long shot to see them in the Sweet 16 group. But a fun group to watch.

I think the Badgers are locked in at either a 3 or 4 seed. Currently they are a 3-seed according to the latest CBS polls. I don't think they can get a 2-seed so either a 3 or 4 seed right now depending on how well they play in the Big Ten tournament an early loss could drop them to a 4 seed but that is as low as the Badgers will go with the seedings.

 

I think if the Badgers win at least one game in the Big Ten tournament they are a 3-seed. That is all they have to do to get a 3-seed but if they lose their first game I can see the committee knocking them down to a 4-seed with an early exit in the Big Ten tournament.

Yea, they were really brought down by all of the close wins. Would be disappointing to see a 4 or 5 seed if they beat MSU today. I would understand the reasoning, but it would suck to win the Big 10 and only get a 4 or 5. They have 6 losses and only 1 was a 'bad loss' and that was with a top 10 player in the country leaving the game early. Another loss was a close loss to a top 10 team without that same guy. I would hope they settle in at 3, but I am expecting a 4 and would be really bummed by a 5.

Regardless of whether the Badgers get the 2/3 seed I think they should have, I would be highly disappointed if they're not playing in Milwaukee next week.

Kenpom and the Net rankings are basically the same thing and are core to determining seeds. Even if they win one game, they will be a 5, or a 4 at best. I know it sounds ridiculous, but math doesn't lie, right?

 

On the morning of 3/11, the Badgers are #31 in Kenpom and #21 in Net.

Well, last year UW was 14th in KenPom and got a 9 seed (not to mention the previous 20 years of being underseeded according the efficiency numbers), so maybe this year they'll make it up to them by giving them the seed their wins deserve. I'm not counting on it though.
