With 2 outs in the top of the 8th, Nashville collected three hits (Brice Turang infield single, Tyler White single, Jon Singleton double). That’s given Nashville a 4-3 lead, though unfortunately White was thrown out at home on the double.

The Jon Singleton offensive comeback tour continues.

4 walks, an RBI single (Brian Navaretto) and a 2-run double (Andruw Monasterio) extended the Sounds' lead to 7-3, which held up with RHP Trevor Kelley closing it out.

Another 9-inning game is coming up shortly.

After finishing off a win in today's opener, the Sounds have made 3 lineup changes for the second game today, as they aim to build a 3-2 series lead in St. Paul. RHP Dylan File takes the mound, coming off two consecutive quality appearances (10 innings pitched, 1 run). Offensively, let's keep the spotlight on SS Brice Turang, who's homered in consecutive games and is riding a 9-game hitting streak:

The Carolina Mudcats have a 3-1 series lead in Down East, with RHP Alexander Cornielle (2.19 ERA, 1.86 WHIP, 8.8 K/9 in 12 1/3 innings) starting tonight as he tries to earn his first victory in Low-A. CF Hedbert Perez is steadily breaking out of his early season funk, hitting safely in 8 of his last 9 games:

1 - Alberis Ferrer - 3B
2 - Micah Bello - LF
3 - Jeferson Quero - C
4 - Hendry Mendez - RF
5 - Hedbert Perez - CF
6 - Jesus Chirinos - 1B

Felix Valerio is out of the Biloxi lineup again tonight. He last played for the Shuckers on Wednesday. Any word on a possible reason?

Not just “at Night” anymore.

The High-A Timber Rattlers need a bounce back, after yesterday's deflating loss left them down 1-3 in this week's series in Peoria, while so does today's starter RHP Justin Jarvis (5 runs in 2 innings in last start). On a positive note, Carlos D. Rodriguez reached base 5 times yesterday and hit his first home run of the season, as he tries to end his early slump:

I've not seen or heard any news, but in his last action he was thrown out at 2nd base trying to extend a single to end the 8th inning on the 27th. Cam Devanney replaced him the field the next inning.

AA Biloxi is tied 2-2 in their series at home against Pensacola this week, with RHP Carlos Luna (2.08 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, 5.5 K/9 in 13 innings) seeking a win to re-gain the series advantage. C Jakson Reetz is behind the dish, aiming to extend his 6-game hitting streak as well:

Jeez, the Mudcats had more ejections (1 - Alberis Ferrer, 6th inning) than runs scored (0) or earned runs given up (0) today, as they fell 0-2 at Down East. At least Hedbert Perez collected another hit and Jeferson Quero threw out all three attempted base stealers. Of course, kudos to Alexander Cornielle, Michele Vassalotti and Brandon Ramey for solid pitching.

Nashville's recovered nicely to take a 3-2 series lead in St. Paul, scoring 12 runs in 5 innings before the game was called as final due to rain. Tyler White hit his 5th home run to take the early lead and Mark Mathias bashed an 0-2, 2-out grand slam. 12-3 Sounds over Saints.

Yep. He distinctly showed something on, if I recall correctly, his right leg. Looked like some type of something in the hammy or the quad. I imagine we'll hear some time in the early week.

Just gotta say it always cracks me up checking in on these threads that CAR/WIS/BIL all have the pro looking lineup graphic, then for NAS (the biggest budget operation by a long shot) it’s just like a phone picture of a print out.

Carlos Luna works hard in another start and keeps his squad in the game. He nibbles and often isn't given the benefit of the zone and suffers walks for it, but he left after 4 with only one run surrendered. 4 walks and 3 hits. Wiemer has another 2 rbi's for 17 on the season. Cam Devanney continues his fine early season with his first dinger. 9-1 Biloxi after a six spot on the board in the bottom of the sixth.

MiLB.TV archive of Wed. 4/27 game (for subscribers)

Go to the 3 hour, 3 minute mark.

Valerio lines a double down the right-field line, beautiful (as always) piece of hitting for Felix.

As the throw comes in to 2nd Valerio does an awkward stutter-step / half-slide as if he was indecisive about his slide.

Having been thrown out (insult to injury), Valerio sits by the bag grabbing the back of his left leg just above the knee. A few seconds later, Valerio makes his way to a standing position on his own, but still with a bit of a cringe and effort. The telecast goes to a replay and then the dead time between innings as Valerio is not on the field, having made his way to the dugout.

Garrett Greene noted that Cam Devanney came in to replace Valerio (who was starting in left field for this game - Valerio has eight starts at second base, one at third base, and five in LF). No mention of Valerio's status was made, understandably.

Not being able to listen to every sound bite from every game, it's possible that Valerio's injury status has been discussed on air (in fact likely considering Valerio's prospect pedigree and that he's now missed three games, but nothing has been in printed/online form).
