Ever day I simply offer that good mojo to Eduardo Garcia that he may take a ball four and have a clean slate of no strikeouts at the plate. May today be that day!?

AA Biloxi is also trying to close out a 4-2 series win. Veteran LHP Andy Otero (3.50 ERA) makes his 5th start and LF Noah Campbell returns after a 4-day absence. SS Cam Devanney is riding a hot streak (10-for-last-25, HR, 3 doubles):

I have to think that recent 6-game pause for Campbell may have something to do with his untimely and uncharacteristic error that cost his team the game in the early part of the series. It really was one of those errors that left you scratching your head as a fan. Get the head straight. Regroup. And get back to it kind of thing. Here's hoping for many fine moments for Noah in this one!

High-A Wisconsin needs a victory today to salvage a 2-4 series in Peoria, with LHP Russell Smith making his 2nd start of the week and hoping for a better result (3 runs in 4 2/3 innings in a loss). Don't look now, but 3B Zavier Warren may be figuring out hitting in High-A (.351 AVG over last 10 games):

Zavi has been great the past 10 games. A true bright spot.

We are now suffering through prolonged absences from ValerioErnesto Martinez, and Tyler Black. I'm sad. ?

Eduardo currently a 2 for 4 day with his second HR of the season (Wahooo!), all 3 rbi's, and NO K's. Big day for the youngster. I love it. Mudcats trail 3-4 here in the Bottom of the 8th. They put up those 3 runs in the top half. Let's put those rally caps on!

Jakob Brustoski coming on trying to keep it close with one down. Let's hope the Lefty can find more of the strikezone - he's suffered from a case of the walks and bean balls in his early outings. We're pulling for you Jakob.

Hey now, well done Jakob! No walks. 2 punch outs. Nice bouncback for him in a possibly important spot. On to the top of the ninth for the Mudcats. Perez, Chirinos, and Vargas on tap to try and start a comeback victory parade for the Mudcats. They are currently 0-9 on the day.?

Last but not least today, we have your Nashville Sounds which are in first place in the 20-team International League. They aim to win a 4th consecutive game in St. Paul, with RHP Luis Perdomo (0.96 ERA in 9 1/3 innings) serving as the opener for RHP Jason Alexander (2.70 ERA in 20 innings). DH Tyler White continues to pack a punch, with his 5th homer yesterday lifting his SLG to .607:

Oh man, Jakob opens the Bottom of the ninth with a HBP and batter One is aboard. ? Let's hope he can find that form from the Bottom of the 8th inning or we might be in for a familiar hiccup.

Alright then Jakob! The kind and supportive words of @Mass Haas must have gotten you trending back in a better way! With a lead off hit batter, followed by a ground out to 2nd, that runner stole third. He gets the punch out for out 2. The runner still on 3rd base, he walks the next batter after working a 3-0 count full. He ends his inning with yet another strikeout. It's an all or nothing affair with Mr. Brustoski at present but he sure can strike a batter out when he is hitting the zone. He goes 1.2 ip with 4 k, the walk and the hit batter. On to the top of the 10th!

Eduarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrdo Garcia with the 2-run double to left field knocks in Raabe and Cipion (who knocked his fifth double of the year to advance Raabe to third after the force out groundout to open the 10th). Eduardo's 6th double on the year. His 5th rbi on the afternoon. AND, it's 6-4 Mudcats with one down in the top of the 10th!

Mr. Trevor Tietz had a word or two to the baseball after his past two outings. He had a little breather and some time to reflect on how dominant he was early in the season coming in with runners aboard and helping out the team in a Big Way. Trevor k's the side after surrendering a smart walk to the dangerous 2-hitter, Tucker Mitchell. With two down, he locked and loaded after runners stole 2nd and 3rd. Heck of a close for the young man and a BIG comeback win for our youngsters down in Zebulon! 6-4 is the Final.

Hats off are in order for the previously maligned Carolina bullpen. A great job all around keeping the game manageable and close. In total, between Rodgriuez, Brustoski, and Tietz: 5 complete ip, 2 ER (all to Rodriguez in his 2 1/3 ip), 3 hits, 2 bb, 1 HBP, and 10 punch outs. What a win!

A vintage Andy Otero outing this afternoon. After walking the dangerous Jerar Encarnacion off a hard-worked full count, he ends his day completing 5 1/3 innings of 1 earned run ball. Much more effective this outing than his earlier (in the series) face-off with the Blue Wahoos. 3 k's, 3 hits, and 3 walks. TJ Hintzen came aboard and surrendered a two-run jack immediately to Griffin Conine and the Shuckers now trail 3-0. Just like that, a one run game is now a defecit of 3. Let's hope TJ can escape the outing with no more damage. Unfortunately, Andy will inherit Encarnacion crossing the plate.

Two guys who look much improved this year are:

Nash Walters (WHIP 0.86 this year vs 1.56 career and BB/9 down to 3.86 vs 6.49)

Michele Vassalotti (WHIP 0.64 this year vs 1.45 and BB/9 down to 0.82 from 4.50) .  Also, thankfully Vassalotti with 25 HBP last year has only 1 this year.
