Carolina has won 3 straight this week at home against Kannapolis and has a doubleheader today (each a 7 inning game), with RHP Stiven Cruz (0.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 14.1 K/9 in 7 innings) making his 3rd start of 2022 in today's opening game. CF Jackson Chourio had the game-winning, 11th inning hit on Thursday night and comes in with an 11-game on-base streak:

After alternating victories in the first 4 games of this week's series in Cedar Rapids, Wisconsin can forge a tie for first place with a victory tonight. LHP Antoine Kelly is seeking a win and his 3rd double-digit strikeout game of the month (10 on May 5th, 13 on May 22nd). LF Carlos D. Rodriguez has reached base in 8 consecutive games to lift his season OPS to .751:

Stiven Cruz had a clean first inning (2 Ks), but gave up his first run of 2022 via homer in the 2nd inning. Carolina's managed one hit (Eduardo Garcia single) but no runs thus far. 1-0 Cannon Ballers lead.

Cruz gathered himself nicely, getting the last 3 hitters out (2 Ks, ground out). He exits after 4 innings and 77 pitches. LHP Karlos Morales is on for the 5th inning. Carolina trails 6-0 and still has only 1 hit.

Biloxi aims for a 3rd straight win at home against Montgomery, with stud RHP Victor Castaneda (2.58 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, 9.6 K/9 in 38 1/3 innings) on the bump tonight. CF Sal Frelick will try for his 6th-straight multi-hit game (11-for-25 over last 5 games):

As a few teams have discovered, the 2022 Carolina Mudcats never give up. Game 1 of today was another example, with the team scoring 3 runs in the bottom half of 7th and final inning (RBI singles by Jesus Chirinos, Eduardo Garcia, Jackson Chourio), bringing the potential game-tying run to the plate. They've unfortunately dropped this game 7-4, but will try to carry the late momentum into Game 2 of today's doubleheader.

Suddenly in a 3-game losing streak, AAA Nashville needs a victory tonight to have any hope of salvaging a 3-3 series split in Toledo. Hortonville-born RHP Caleb Boushley (4.23 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, 7.5 K/9 in 44 2/3 innings) is set for his 10th start of the season. SS Brice Turang has hit safely in 9 of his last 10 games:

Despite losing the first game of today's doubleheader, Carolina can still clinch a series victory at home over Kannapolis with a win in the Game 2 nightcap. RHP Edwin Jimenez is coming off two rough appearances (9 IP, 8 ER, 10 H, 6 BB, 9 Ks), so aiming to right his ship. SS Eduardo Garcia has hit safely in 9 of his last 10 games to boost his season slash (.278 AVG, .310 OBP, .383 SLG):

Beautiful night at the ballpark in Cedar Rapids.  First time watching Antoine Kelly in person this year and he has outstanding stuff.  However, Darrien Miller has had no chance throwing out runners with the time it takes Kelly to get the ball to home plate.  Three solo bombs for the Rattlers.  Also, Jadher Areinamo carries himself like he belongs here.
