Wed. 6/8: Small, Knarr, Kelly, Cruz - Stellar Starters Set to Soar; All Rookie Ballers Idle

Thomas Dillard is really growing on me throughout this 2022 season. He takes walks. He plays every day. He plays hard and with the same showmanship every game. And, now, after early struggles his bat is heating up. He missed a double down the left field line by a matter of inches...it didn't matter. He knocked his 12th double through the left center gap two pitches later on a full count. That's resilience and sticking to it.

Tristen Lutz just hammered a double to the wall in left field scoring Dillard. It's 3-1. All four hits for the Shuckers are XB hits. 3 dubs and Wiemer's jack. This is FUN!

This just in: The Timber Rattlers are being no-hit into the top of the 6th inning.

I partly share this to absolutely jinx Beloit. ?

AND, just like that. That's Joey Wiemer HR 13. Goodness gracious, I missed watching this young man play. He's a stud. A total full-package stud. Ripped a ding dong over the wall in left field.

Really glad to see him back. Biloxi’s boxscores weren’t the same without him.

Mark Mathias throwing error...and then there are 5 more runs and Ethan Small is out of the game after 2 2/3 innings? Whew now. That's ugly. 6-1 Norfolk and Zach Brown takes the hill. I'll have to go back and see what happened there.

You're telling me. He's just a complete stud and the entire Biloxi viewing experience is so much better when he's playing. He does so much for that line-up.

Holy Brandon Knarr have a debut! 6 complete innings of 8 k ball. He just stranded 2 men (first and second base) to close the sixth inning on a sweet breaking buckling curve on a 1-2 count. THIS is epic stuff.

Arnaldo Hernandez is trying to do his best to continue the Shuckers bullpen meltdown pandemic. First pitch: ripped double deep off the wall in left field. Second batter hits a hard hit grounder through the outstretched dives of Coca and Devanney. Third batter? Let's go 3-0. YUCK.

AND, just like that, he tosses up a meat ball on a 3-1 count and Bradley Beasley rips a grounder under the glove of Coca at third base. Could he have back-handed that ball? Yes. Was it an easy play? Absolutely not. That ball was roped. 3-2 Shuckers. Men on second and third and still no outs.

A fielder's choice ground out plates the third run. There are now two down and it's 3-3. Man on third. The bullpen continues to be an issue in Biloxi. What an unfortunate development of late.

Thomas Dillard: On Base specialist. That's three walks tonight in addition to the double. Thomas was tied for the Southern League lead with 35. With three more tonight, we have to imagine he is now in sole position with 38 walks.

The T-Rats are incapable of backing up Antoine Kelly'strong start and fall 2-0 behind a mere one hit from Zavier Warren. That's now two in a row in the 'L' column in Beloit. Bummer.

YESSSSSSSSSS! How sweet it is. The four-game skid is over. Felix Valerio hits the bases-loaded (no out) sacrifice fly to left field to drive in pinch-runner Gaber Holt. A wonderful result given Manager Mike Guerrero was emptying the pinch-runners. They were bunting men over in the ninth (I see you Yeison Coca - hell of a bunt!). 4-3 win baby!

It's not looking good in Nashville as the Sounds trail 8-3 and we're headed to the ninth inning where Andy Otero will look to keep his continued bullpen success rolling. He's gone 4 scoreless tonight. He's now only allowed a mere 2 runs in 13 2/3 innings of Triple-A work since his promotion (excluding his yet to be completed ninth inning of work). What incredible work since his promotion!

Interestingly, I've checked every day since it was announced Carlos Rodriguez was placed on the IL - there has been no change to his active roster status. I'm curious if they are still gauging what's going on?

Seems like most of the news I have posted has been negative so I’ll keep it short.  Injury to his right leg, underwent season-ending surgery on Thursday according to his agent.  Can’t say if it’s ACL, achilles, etc.

Ugh. Unsurprising given how it looked during that game BUT, whew, talk about ‘unfair’. He was on such an incredible run. Hopefully, he can come back stronger and remember the feel and the feeling of his stellar play.. This one hurts.
