Jeez, 2 more homers (that’s 3 through 5 innings) off Nick Bennett have knotted the Biloxi-Rocket City game 4-4.

Well, after the first 4 batters reached base in the 5th inning, giving Rocket City a 5-4 lead with 2-on and nobody out, Bennett was able to hunker down and retire the next 3 batters. Well done sir.

On to the bottom of the 5th inning, Shuckers have work to do.

Oh my word there are typically reasons why you lose nine in a row at home and Delmarva just showed out in style: the 1B and SS let a completely routine pop fly between first base and the pitcher's mound to fall to the ground and Sibrian got aboard. Stud, Eric Brown Jr. calmly took a walk. With runners on first and second base and two down, Jace Avina absolutely skies a pop-up getting well under it into the shallow grass in left field and the Delmarva short stop completely biffs it back-pedaling. Sibrian scores. Brown slides in under a tag. The lights in right field literally go out (and are still out) and the Mudcats suddenly lead 6-5. Yikes. ?

Darrien Miller knocks a ground ball through the first base side and breaks up the no-hitter here in the bottom of the fifth. Joe Gray Jr. advances to third (and played a part in helping that hit through). Men on the corners, one down, and Jose Acosta trying to help plate some runs.

Alright now! Arbert Cipion stays with a fastball and ropes it deep to right center for a stand-up triple with two down and plates both Gray Jr. and Miller. A very very good AB after he was caught chasing several off-speed pitches he managed to stay alive fouling one off before the XBH. Good stuff. T-Rats are on the scoreboard trailing 7-2.

OF Arbert Cipion has an extra-base hit in each of his last 4 games. Great to see him adjusting to the High-A level.

Biloxi and Carolina are both in 1-run games in the bottom of the 8th inning.

Biloxi needs runs, trailing 5-4 at home.

Carolina needs to lock it down, leading 6-5 on the road.

Wisconsin is in some sort of delay at home, down 7-2 in the bottom of the 6th inning.

Insurance run delivered making it 7-5 (a Jose Sibrian jack). It's RHP Karlos Morales attempting to close it down in the ninth.

I will say, the combined output tonight of Robert Moore, Jace Avina, and Eduarqui Fernandez is 1-for-13 (a Moore double - a very nice hit) with 9 K's. Three punch outs apiece. Yikes.

Three doubles here in the 8th inning are at least making the T-Rats/Cublets game intriguing. Chourio to Warren to Gray Jr. It's now 7-4 Cubbies. One down and Gray Jr. standing on second base. Chourio had been in a 1-for-15 mini-slump.

OH SWEET MAMMY PAPPY! Darrien Miller just absolutely crushed  a full-count meatball to deep center into the T-Rats bullpen. It is 7-7. Oh heck yes that was awesome. He had fought off a couple pitches and then just smashed his 8th of his year. Wow. The T-Rats trailed 7-0 in this game. Man that ball sounded gooooood. LET'S GO!!!! Looks like the twitter highlight is up:

He's one of the draftees I have high hopes for.

Rough game, honestly in his first taste of High-A. A throwing error in the first resulted in an un-earned run. Before his walk in the 8th (a key walk, mind you) he was looking at 3 K's. And, a pivotal late throw in the fourth failed to grab the runner and the inning was extended ultimately leading to three runs. Only game one...but we'll look for better things in the games ahead. That's your update, my friend.

Well, Chourio did everything you want in a game-winning situation. He fought off a couple 3-2 pitches and then took what the pitcher gave him: a slider away and hit a cool and calm poke into the infield gap and into right field. He then took second base on the next pitch and the Cubbies catcher air mailed the ball into CF. Now on third with one down. Zavier Warren at the dish. He proceeded to strike out on a slider in the dirt. Then Quero (0-for-4 on the evening with 2 K) popped up past 3B in the shallow left field grass. We're now headed to the 10th inning.

In other news, our favorite (and, now, only?) two-way player RHP Quinton Low gave up his first run of his 10 IP ACL 2022 season. I nearly shed a tear

Moore and Brown at 2b and SS at Carolina. What are the odds they'll be playing those positions in MKE in 3-4 years?

Brice Turang says 0...but, I'll say 20%. I do think both could be in Milwaukee in 3-4 years and productive...and maybe before that.

It should be said: the results weren't there at the plate but it's hard to convey how utterly dominant Jeferson Quero is defensively. He is an incredible talent. Two throw-outs tonight - including the ultra fast Cubs CF. He gives you nothing but confidence behind the dish.
