Marquette Basketball 2022-23

CBS and ESPN both have their respective odd inclusions on the 2-line. ESPN continues to keep Baylor there and CBS likes Gonzaga. CBS does have Marquette as a two though.

A lot of big games today for that area of the bracket. An Arizona lose would be huge for Marquette.

I go back and forth on Marquette a lot, at times they seem to struggle against some not so good teams but then nights like tonight they look like true National Title contenders. Hoping we see this version of the team in the tourney

I was late to the party, not getting to turn the game on until late in the first half. I see they are dominating the game and smiling ear to ear. Xavier then proceeds to go on a 9-0 run and I had to turn the game off until there's one minute left. Whatever it takes I guess.

Anyway, make whatever argument for any other team, but you just cannot seed the undisputed Big East champions lower than a 2.

Marq has won 19 of its last 21. And the 2 losses were the 2 teams they just beat in b2b days to win the conference tourney.  If that's not hot going in to the tourney deserving a 2seed, nothing is. Uconn at worst is a 4seed. Xavier at worst is a 6seed.

Guess what I'm really getting at is Marq needs to be 2 lines above Uconn after beating 2 times after 1 of only 2 losses in past 21 games.

Texas/Marquette/UCLA/Arizona is what it should be if Arizona wins tonight. Swap Arizona with Gonzaga if AZ loses. UCLA and Arizona could commit friendly fire though and let Gonzaga in regardless.

The 1-seeds seem pretty obvious with no chance of drama: Kansas/Alabama/Houston/Purdue. They all made the tourney final for their respective conferences…and rarely does a top seed get penalized for losing there. Texas may have had a chance to steal a top seed, but Kansas played it like a meaningless game so I doubt the committee is going to give them a ton of credit for winning.

Usually better to win in dominating fashion on Saturday than on Sunday in terms of seeding. I'd be pretty surprised if Marquette were any lower than the strongest 3, and I'd have them as a 2.

Rather be a 3 and play in Louisville or KC than a 2 in Sacramento, should the Sweet 16 happen? Always an interesting question.

Seeing Marq at 2 in the East. Finally a Lunardi 2 line. Baylor 3 in that bracket. That feels about right. Purdue 1. No Kentucky though but he does have them as a 7seed so the committee will fix that.

Marquette a #2 get Vermont in the first round and get the winner of Michigan St./USC. I like we got in the Purdue region as I don't see the Big 10 doing much this year.

I think Purdue could be a really tough matchup for Marquette as I'm not sure Marquette has much of a defense against Edey, that said Purdue has a tendency to lose early in the NCAA Tourney so good chance Purdue won't even be in the elite 8 if Marquette gets there

There's Kentucky. 6seed. Kansas St instead of Baylor. I think Marq may have gotten a good draw.  Obviously certain players that are stars at a position Marq doesn't matchup well against can occur.  Not sure what that is.

That's what I'm thinking, that Purdue won't even make it to the Elite 8. I see them going out against Duke and I wouldn't be shocked if they lose to Memphis in the second round, whom I'll be rooting for because my girlfriend's daughter goes to school there. Until they get to Marquette of course.

Or they can just lose in the first round.

Good way to finish off the half and get back in the game. MSU's experience is certainly going to be an advantage for them and is something Marquette will likely be battling throughout the tournament.

This team is going to be exciting for the foreseeable future, but you can't turn the ball over that much and expect to win. Hats off the MSU. Izzo is a coaching legend and it showed today.

Congrats Marquette fans, get used to it. All Shaka Smart has done in the tourney is been a big ole choke job since his first few years at VCU.

Honestly remarkable how similar this year was compared to Wisconsin last year. Both win their conference in the regular season, get a good seed and seemingly have a golden path to the F4, their star PG gets hurt and they suffer heartbreak in the second round. This was always my fear hiring Shaka, he has a long history of regular season success and tourney let downs. Honestly him and Gard are pretty similar in that regard. All of that said this was an incredible year for Marquette and they should be damn proud of it. Heartbreaking finish but a great season

Did he coach circles around Shaka Smart?

(Couldn't resist...)
