What makes a winner

There was an interesting study released by Samford that did a deep dive into team stats and how they correlated with winning percentage. I thought it might be worth looking at.

Things like k% have basically no correlation to winning, and slugging % had a higher correlation than OBP. A few things surprised me and a few things confirmed my gut instincts. Interesting read if nothing else.

This seems to confirm my suspicion that pitching is a bigger problem with the 2022 Brewers than hitting.

I do think some of that analysis is a bit over-simplified...there are more nuanced ways to quantify speed and defense.

Yeah the article portion especially was incredibly simplified. Definitely showed that run prevention is more important than scoring runs though.
