Let’s go, Sounds!

I have enjoyed this team so much in 2022. In a Minor League season filled with unexpected highlights and joys, the highlight of the Brewers organization in 2022 is the constant and routine output from this team, imho. I can literally only recall a small handful of games that left me ‘disappointed’. I am here for this team’s playoff push and, hopefully by the graces of the baseball gods, thier post-season successes.

AAA Nashville plays Game Two in Louisville tonight, aiming to extend their series lead to 2-0. RHP Tyler Herb (3.77 ERA in 117 AA/AAA innings) gets the start, though he threw 2 innings 4 days ago, so let's see how long the leash is. Leadoff LF Sal Frelick's on-base streak is now 36 games and versatile Brice Turang gets a start at second base:

Ruh Roh, RHP Tyler Herb has sunk back into his Triple-A funk his past few outings. He's been either extremely good or roughed up in Nashville - let's get him back on the extremely good streak. He gives up 8 H, 6 ER, 2 HR in just 4 IP. Not the start we were looking for. Sounds trail 6-2 here in the 6th inning. Those pesky pesky Louisville Bats never give the Sounds an easy game it seems.

And, Robbie Baker just gave up an oppo blast to Steven Piscotti and it's 7-2 Bats. It's quite incredible to see Baker debuting in Triple-A. He's really turned his season around. Heck of a job. He ends his inaugural frame with a K, ground out, line out.

Sounds pushing here in the 8th. Men on the corners. One down. Davis steals 2nd. Now men on 2nd and 3rd - the double play is gone. 5-7 Bats now. Turang led off with a double to right field and scored on Davis' single to LF.

Wheewwwwww. Dorrian just took an 0-2 count to a 10 pitch walk. Heck of an AB. Bases juiced. A new pitcher will be coming on. The tension is palpable over here baby.

Doh. Cam Devanney broken bat first pitch double play ball. Really nice turn by the Bats' SS. On to the bottom half and the Sounds trail 7-5. Big opportunity missed there, obviously.

Contreras gives up consecutive full count singles through the gap between Singleton and Turang. One might ask why manager Rick Sweet didn't just start this inning with Ethan Small given he's coming on now and Contreras faced many a lefty in his abbreviated stint. Men on the corners. One down. 8-5 Bats now. This game has the feeling of a reverse image of last night's contest.

Small's season just doesn't get better, sadly. He goes 0-2 but gives up a deep blast off the wall in left field - if it weren't for a fantastic relay play Frelick-to-Devanney-to-Feliciano the damage would have been worse. On the next pitch, to a lefty, he gives up a roped single up the middle. It is now 10-5 Bats. This one was ugly early and it's ugly late. That missed 8th inning opportunity might not have mattered.
