Yuku

So ezboard will be yielding to Yuku. Is a migration date (or even month) known yet?

More to the point, would it behoove* us to establish a presence in yuku now? even if we're not into the Packers or NFL enough to justify joining lambeauleap. net?

Or would it be just as well to let you Packerheads stumble through first and learn the yuku quirks before brewerfan.net migrates?

Oh - and will there be any way to preserve our more classic threads? Like most WOAH SOLVDD content? I realize maybe it's too early to answer some of these questions.

If I were you, I'd hold out as much as possible.

I think I finally know my way around it pretty well now, but that doesn't mean it's easy to navigate. It's still a beta version right now, and there are a lot of bugs that Yuku needs to fix. So, unless you're feeling fairly temerarious*, wait until until the eleventh hour to switch.

After reading through the EZBoard/Yuku FAQ (don't ask me why), it appears that all EZBoard message boards will be eventually moved to Yuku and the forums, topics, posts, etc. will all remain intact. And even though there's no chat available yet, they say they're making one.

Yeah, i'm going to hold out on transferring Brewerfan over until the last second. I used Yuku for Leambeauleap so I could become more familiar with it before the inevitable happens.

So far, i'm not terribly impressed with Yuku. They seem more interested in gimmicky functionality than useful stuff.

This is just the kind of information I sought. Thanks.

And they'd consarn well better have a chatroom - otherwise brewers19 and I will have a void in our respective lives.

Do we need to register with Yuku or does our current registration, screen name, and password automatically transfer?

Alright, I think i'm going to break down and try a phpBB board. It's much, much more cost effective than ezBoard/Yuku, and i'll probably be able to integrate it better with Lambeauleap.net/Brewerfan.net (i.e., only having one set of login data to use both sites).

[ Why are they getting rid of EZboard in the first place? Its my favorite board style out there. ]

Yeah, it's very disappointing. Oh well, they won't be getting our $1500+ a year. While I think phpBB might be in our future, at least temporarily, perhaps this dissatisfaction is going to finally lead me to write my own sports-oriented message board software.

Brian,

If you switch, would transferring existing threads be out of the realm of possibility? Mainly, I'm concerned about all of Jim's wonderful link reports. Even if they could somehow be maintained in a read-only format, that'd be cool.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Worst-case scenario, i'd build some kind of extraction program to screen-scrape the old forums.... I do think that ezBoard however has some kind of back-up facility that will make the job easier.
