Game 13: Packers @ Bears - Sunday, December 4th 12:00 PM

Joe Barry sucks, but the problems on defense go beyond just him. The players have significant blame for this mess as well. Preston Smith got manhandled by a receiver on the touchdown run. How did this team get so soft?

I still wonder if MLF is in any danger if they don't win another game.

It would have to get ugly, by that I mean, he’d have to irreparably lose core players.  If guys like Gary, Jaire,  Clark, even Rodgers (assuming he comes back) give up on what he’s selling, then he could very well be cooked.  Hard to say on the outside if that’s a real risk at this point, but idk.

Brilliant 3rd down call, Matt. I can see why you needed a timeout for that one.

Just as a reminder, this is the defense that couldn't stop Mike White last week.

How did Sanborn go undrafted?  He looks like a legit NFL LB.  This is just confusing.

40 time I'm guessing but the guy just knows how to play linebacker.

Weird sequence there.  Refs blow it with a phantom down by contact, stupid shot throw again on 3rd and 1, and then a funky fair catch interference.  Not sure that’s all on the gunner on that punt, since it seems the wind ended up blowing the ball into his back.  Guess you need to just clear out, but guys are up close on the returner in that situation all the time. Bizarre.

MLF that is one you challenge. What are you doing?

can you challenge that? play was blown dead. regardless  should have run on 3rd down

edit: guess so

He tackles better than any first rounder, highly paid defender on our team.

MLF probably didn't know.

I'm wondering if due to the whistle that was anything they could challenge.

I wonder if this is one of those situations where the HC also being the play caller bites us.  He needs to be thinking about plays, but a challenge/no-challenge decision is critical there, too.  If there isn’t a clear system of assistant support for LaFleur in that situation that indicates we need to challenge, that could easily het screwed up.

You throw the flag anyway and if the ref tells you it's unreviewable then so be it, but there's no excuse to not even try to challenge.

This. If you ever don't challenge a play because you are ignorant to whether it can be challenged, you're just as guilty as if you knew.

I believe it was his 40 time as @yourout suggested.  He did not play much in space against the pass at UW, so he was looked at as a LB against the run mostly in the NFL.  I would agree it was baffling though why he was undrafted given his production in college.

about all Walker is good for is chasing down fast QBs

Which is okay if you've got a defensive coordinator that knows how to make use of that.

Most of our defense is a whole bunch of round pegs trying to be driven into square holes
