Let's start the discussion now, I hope we get at least 2 firsts for Love.

I personally think it's silly to think either side has any kind of clear advantage or leverage. The Packers want to move on from Rodgers and the Jets want Rodgers. Neither side wants their current situation to be the status quo in August, so it just comes down to who is going to be more stubborn.

I'd like it if Murphy, Gute, Woody and Douglas were to meet in person for a few days and go to bargaining until this gets done. It would be a disservice to Love to have this distraction and elephant in the room throughout camps as he prepares for next season.

Florio is such a clown. There are now a dozen people that do what he does. Surprised he still has any kind of an audience.

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

It's feeling an awful lot like nothing is going to happen for weeks, best we just settle in and wait for it to happen. And it will eventually. It feels much more likely to happen before the draft than after. I'm kind of done reacting (easy to say) to every rumor or opinion piece on the internet or media. I'll pay more serious attention if there's an information leak that feels legit, until then people out there are just selling ad space.

So trade 15 + Rodgers for 13, 42, 43 and conditional 2024?

Not exactly a Packers move, but this is certainly relevant to potential compensation for Rodgers...

Definitely is...both frees up cap space to add Rodgers to the fold and gives the Jets an extra 2nd rounder to either flip or use if they trade a different high pick.

I like Homer's trade scenario, although I think it may be more along the lines of:

Jets get:

Rodgers (and ALL that goes along with him)

Packers get:

Jets' #13 and a conditional 2024 pick ranging from a 4th rounder (Rodgers retires) all the way to a 1st rounder (Jets make 2023 playoffs, or Jets trade Rodgers elsewhere for 2024).

Good point. My immediate thought was 42 & 43, but now having 42 might make them more willing to give up 13.

Edit to note that 42+43 equals #17 on the value chart, which is solid. I actually might prefer two 'bites at the apple' this year in a weaker overall draft but one that has consistent talent level in the 25-50 range. Feels like you could get 4 impact guys with 15, 42, 43, and 46.

I'm hoping there is a contingency for 2 future first round picks if Rodgers plays for the Vikings in 2024. 😂

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Apparently I need to say things like this more often... Not directly a Packers move but it could be.

Why is this in blue? On that subject...

How ecstatic are Bears fans that their owner won't have to demolish them this year?

Really hard not to view it as related in my mind. Short of acquiring Moore directly, which the Packers may not have wanted to do, it's clearly a trade to provide more 2023 capital for the Jets to offer Green Bay in some shape or form.

Even if this pick doesn't go straight to the Packers, it's very likely related. The Jets have more draft capital to work with in a trade and for what they want out of the draft for themselves, regardless of whether this specific pick goes to GB or not.

The Gute just wants his picks, they really tie the team together.

Soccer has the concept of a Sell-on clause.  Hmmm...

Mods - maybe split off a Rodgers thread from the Packers thread?

According to PFF, the Packers are projected (barring any league-wide roster changes) to have the 2nd best pass protecting OL in the NFL next season behind only Philadelphia.  The Packers lowest ranked starter is Zach Tom at RT, and he is at the 74th percentile at RT.  Everyone except Nijman is under contract through at least 2024.  This is why I don't expect the Packers to draft an OL on day 1 or 2.

The Bears best pass-blocking OL is at a lower percentile than the worst Packers starting OL.

It really is amazing, I saw so much complaining about the line last year and then they graded out as the 3rd best in the NFL last season.

Rodgers will be a Bear next year.

So he can play for an owner he agrees with?

What a dumpster fire this is turning into. Just trade him for anything at this point. Be done.

This is turning into a he said/he said thing. I'm personally more inclined to believe Gute than I am Rodgers at this point. Rodgers is great at creating drama and skirting blame, though, so I'm sure he'll do that again in short order. His whole introductory presser with the Jets is going to be bashing the Packers organization. Just watch ...

My assumptions:

Gute is saying we need #13, Jets are saying no way, so we wait.

We aren't getting #13. Frankly, the Jets would be dumb to give us #13. All they have to do is wait us out another month and we'll shut up about #13 and they'll still get their guy. We don't have any other trade partners and it's not like we're going to just walk away if this doesn't get done by May.

Gute doesn't want it to get to that point, because he'll want '23 draft capital. So this gets done either just prior to the draft, or even during the draft, when Gute runs out of time to wait.

Final deal something along the line of

'23; 2nd

'24: Conditional 3rd, becomes 2nd if the Jets make the playoffs and 1st if they make the Super Bowl.

'25: Conditional 4th, becomes 3rd if Rodgers plays in '24, 2nd if he plays and the Jets make the playoffs, 1st if he plays and they make the Super Bowl.
