Friday 4/7: Let All the Kids Play! Everybody Hits the Road

Metzinger rips a line drive single to right field and he's now reached base all three trips. Heck of a 2023 debut for the former Louisville Cardinal 3B.

Good to see Jesus Chirinos looking chiseled and dialed in to start his 2023. He looks in great shape and he debuts with a current 2-for-3 line. He really got a hold of his 2B in his first AB - ripped a laser shot past a diving 3B down the line into deep left field.

Blake Perkins continues to be the most dependable bat early in 2023 for the Sounds batting order. I'm telling you: don't sleep on this young man's smooth game. 2-for-2 so far tonight with his first rbi of the season. Sounds lead 2-0 on the Classies.

You can see why the Brewers promoted RHP Ryan Brady straight to High-A. 1-2-3 first outing including a dominancing of Marlins 3rd ranked prospect 3B Jacob Berry on a slew of breaking balls. He has really nice movement on the basket of offerings of these off-speed gems. 2K, and a weak grounder to Moore at 2B. Fantastic stuff.

Gents, RHP Ryan Brady is filthy. He just ripped off 4 straight K's of the meat of the Sky Carp's batting order. A ball has not left the infield. His breaking ball is fooling everyone and with that his heater is blowing by batters. Extremely impressive.

The Mudcats-Woodpeckers game has been suspended for the evening due to rain, tied 1-1 after 5 innings. More baseball tomorrow!

RHP Ryan Middendorf goes another complete inning pitched. And, another clean slate. 2 K. 2 H. I honestly can't remember the last time he conceded a run. RHP Abner Uribe is on for his first action in 2023 and let's see if he can close this one out. Shuckers lead 3-0.

LHP Karlos Morales has a clean and, frankly, dominant 1 IP in his 2023 debut including a gorgeous array of sliders and breaking balls. On to the 9th inning and it's still 4-2 T-Rats.

Atlantic League signee and International baseball man of mystery, with flowing long brown hair to his chest, RHP Kaleb Bowman is on for the closing situation. He gets the ground out to Moore at 2B, a K on a beautiful full count heater over the outer half, and then a 4 pitch strikeout to close it out with a gorgeous breaking ball for the swing and the miss. That's 5 hitless IP from the T-Rats bullpen. Manager Joe Ayrault has to be absolutely thrilled with what his young arms showed him tonight. 

Special mention to OF Joe Gray Jr. who starts off 2023 with 2 singles and a SB. That's a fine start for a perennial fan favorite.

RHP Janson Junk (5 innings, win) picked up where starting RHP Colin Rea (4 innings) left off, as the two combined on a 5-hit shutout of Memphis, with Nashville winning 3-0.
