How about the week INF Eddy Alvarez just had (really, since shaking the rust off the first couple games of the season he's been incredible):

It's fairly impressive LHP Robert Gasser is sporting a 2.77 ERA with batters hitting a truly weak 0.136 BAA...and it definitely feels (and has looked) like we haven't even sniffed his best stuff. The 14:10 K:BB ratio and 3 HB augments the 1.23 WHIP. If this is 'struggling', what does peak Gasser look like? I really really hope we are blessed as Brewers baseball fans in witnessing his growth and refinement into the best version of his pitching self. It's so tantalizing but it just hasn't happened yet. Miles to go, but, I'm along for that walk in the baseball park.

Additionally, let's give a shout out to what RHP Tobias Myers is doing in Biloxi. It's easy to forget he's still just 24 years old (turns 25 in early August) because of his extremely rough 2022. He is absolutely stating his case, in the early going, he wants another chance at the International League. It's important to remember he actually had a solid first showing in the League back in 2021 when he was hurling for Durham - 12 G, 58 IP, 4.50 ERA, 65:18 K:BB, 0.234 BAA, 1.21 WHIP. The outlier season for Myers is last year. Previous to that, he was making a name for himself. It's also a pertinent reminder this is another HS draftee who has been finding his way as a 17-year-old since 2016 when the Orioles drafted him in the 6th round. These are the 'catch lightning in a bottle' chances an organization like the Brewers has to take. He takes the mound again, tonight, looking to keep his bounce back story fresh and relevant while hoping to further drive the Mississippi Braves (5-10) down the Standings.

From the Sounds Game Notes. It definitely looks like one of those flipped scripts series match-ups between the Sounds and the Storm Chasers. One relying on their pitching (Sounds) while the other relies on their bats (Storm Chasers). It will be curious to see how these early tendencies trend over the next six games.

Let's again remind us all why many of us keep pointing to the mound for extremely intriguing RHP Quinton Low. Touching 99 and throwing this type of slider at this stage? Whewww. Good luck Low-A hitters:

AAA Nashville is home this week to take on Royals' affiliate Omaha. 23-year old LHP Robert Gasser (2.77 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, 9.7 K/9 in 13 IP) starts the opener. Rehabbing Tyrone Taylor gets his first action of the season, starting in right field. 3B Abraham Toro has a 10-game hitting streak and a 15-game on-base streak.

Low-A Carolina has won 6 of their last 7 games, but White Sox affiliate Kannapolis has won 9 of 10 games. The two red-hot squads face off in Zebulon for this week, with 21-year old RHP Jacob Misiorowski (0.00 ERA in 2.2 IP with 4 Ks) getting his 3rd start of 2023 tonight. 19-year old (Happy Birthday yesterday!) 1B Luke Adams (.207 AVG, 1.039 OPS) homered in each game of Sunday's doubleheader.

AA Biloxi has won two consecutive series and now hosts the Mississippi Braves this week. Terrific 24-year old RHP Tobias Myers (2.81 ERA, 0.88 WHIP, 13.5 K/9 in 16 IP) seeks his 3rd win in his 4th start. 3B Tyler Black (.250 AVG, 1.031 OPS) has reached base in all 13 games he's played in 2023.

Hopefully Frelick returns sometime this week.

Frelick is out 6-8 weeks, we’ve just learned.

Misiorowski just had one of the most dominant innings you will ever see. Struck out the side on 11 pitches. Only 3 pitches were outside the zone. 7 swings, 6 whiffs. His command seems MILES better than it was last year.

Yes Sir. That was impressive as hyeck. Hit 100 mph 4-5 times. 99 on others. Getting swings and whiffs on two sliders on the 2nd and 3rd K? Yeah, that was the sauce.

Even though it resulted in a very well hit groundout directly to the first baseman, that was a fantastic AB from Hedbert Perez. Made the pitcher work. Hopefully, that pays dividends later.

2nd inning wasn't as good for Misiorowski. Battled the command a bit. Gave up a run on a walk and two lazy line drive singles. Final line for him, 2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 4 SO. 41 pitches, 29 strikes.

On a slightly hanging slider on an 0-2 count, OF Jace Avina appears (the cameras don't go there in Zebulon) to have made a very nice catch along the deep RF wall. I don't know if it was fair or veering foul. So far, the heater is sitting 95-97 here in the 2nd.

Yeah, had that 4th batter at 0-2 and caught too much center cut on an inside heater. Looked like he dropped the velo down a tad there too. The pitching coach then came on to discuss at 33 pitches. Were they buying him time? Or were they discussing another batter with a higher pitch count? Hard to tell.

It sure didn't look like that throw beat Adams trying to steal 2B. Looked a hair late. But, alas, there is no means of challenging that at the lowest levels. Sigh.

This is my first time seeing RHP Nick Merkel and, my baseball gods, he is almost a spitting image of Misiorowski. Same height. Same frame. Wild. Just throws that heater about 10 mph slower. Beautiful slider for his first K.

RHP Edwin Jimenez now on for the middle relief innings. This appears to be a thing and a role for Jimenez in early 2023. Luke Adams has made two fantastic grabs at 1B saving Jimenez of some throwing errors on his first two batters - both weak choppers to the mound. Jimenez looks just as sharp as he's been every outing to date here early.

Is C Matthew Wood seeing that baseball. He just ripped an absolute rope to the wall in deep RF extending his hitting streak to 7 games. Just looking so dialed and so smooth at the dish right now. You love to see it! Unfortunately, that's the second straight inning the Mudcats left a runner at 2B and the third straight inning stranding a runner as OF Eduarqui Fernandez flails at a slider well off the plate on a 2-2 count. Still 1-0 Cannon Ballers and we're on to the 5th.
