    I don't see how the Brewers could have realistically made that trade. We don't really have a comparable package to the one the Yankees offered. Nationals wanted a heavy pitching package of MLB ready or will be MLB ready next year. The Brewers don't have that. Upper level minor league pitching is the biggest weakness on our farm system.

    The Yankees stink right now. You want to talk about bad offense? Since Judge went on the IL they have the second worst wRC+ in MLB and Bellinger just recently got hurt making their offense even worse. Cubs dropping the series against them when the Yankees never scored more than 2 runs in a game is sad. If that happened to the Brewers I can't imagine how people would be talking about our offense.

    Obviously DH would be great to upgrade on but we all know that's not happening this year. Maybe next year at the earliest.

    Yeah I agree with that. I mean I think ideally you could get a better bad at 3B but that's not really something that appears to be on the market.

    I don't think the offense is as bad as the naysayers on this site but I do think they are right that between the offense and pitching, the offense is the much bigger issue when it comes to actually making a playoff run. Especially so if Contreras is done looking like the good hitter he was back in 23 and 24.

    I'm not sure why people don't believe McCalvy. He didn't just pull those names out of a hat. It's not like he just said they gave up prospect number X, Y, and Z. In terms of actual prospect similarities what he put out feels pretty comparable. An MLB ready SP, a top 25/50 position player, and a 21 year old SP prospect whose timeline is still a couple years away. It wouldn't at all surprise me if that was what the Tigers were asking for.

    11 of his 14 batted ball against today were ground balls. That pushes his GB rate at A+ this year to 59.7% which is frankly absurd.

    My guess is slightly inflated with all of them. Ragsdale the most of three I'd guess. He had quite a few in A+ where the ball was like 96-97 EV to the opposite field gap and just kept carrying for a HR.

    It's the ball. There's a reason ISO rates have exploded in AA and below this year while it's remained stagnant at AAA.

    That write up is from the preseason eval of him when he was a 45+. They bumped him down to a 40+ in their midseason update but they don't re-write the whole report.

    Mitchell has stopped sliding head first this year. He's taken steps to insure he stays healthy. The only time he goes headfirst into a base is when he there's a throw over to 1B from the pitcher. I think you're right. There's certainly injury history with Mitchell but his two biggest injuries were both from head first slides and he no longer does those.

    We all know the real reason the Brewers made this trade. Perkins has some sort of voodoo where every time he gets sent to AAA an OF gets hurts in the near future to bring him back up. With Lockridge nearing a return off the IL and Perkins about to go back to AAA, the Brewers said nope we aren’t playing this game again.

    Okay I got a kick out of this. Saying Sanchez’s challenges have been historically awful. ABS challenges just started this year. How can something be historically awful when there’s no history? Edit: I got such a kick out of it that I couldn’t even finish your comment to see you said the same thing later in your comment haha

    I don't think trading our best LHRP is something that would help us this year. Are you going to trust DL Hall or Shane Drohan to be our best LHRP?

    And that's in a stretch where the Cubs have had a ton of good fortune. Cubs have outperformed their xwOBA offensively by 41 points. The next highest overperformance was 32 points. They also overperformed their xERA by 1.01 runs. The next highest overperformance was by 0.85 runs. So basically Cubs have played way over their underlying numbers this month and will have either gained no ground or lost a game in the standings against us.

    Then you look over at the Miller trade and it's a joke of a trade the other way.

    I think people are going to be shocked when Skubal is actually traded based on how bad a lot of these hypothetical trade offers have been.

    Contreras has 1 HR and 7 RBI in July (3 of those 7 RBI came in that one HR). He has a 38 wRC+ and has been worth -0.3 fWAR this month. The fact the Brewers have managed to go 15-10 so far in July when three guys who are always in the top 4 of your order have been so bad this month is a testament to how good the other parts of the lineup have been (and of course the pitching). Ortiz - 152 wRC+ Pratt - 144 wRC+ Turang - 142 wRC+ Mitchell - 142 wrC+ Hamilton - 131 wRC+ Lara - 130 wRC+ Bauers - 119 wRC+ Sanchez - 107 wRC+ Vaughn - 103 RC+ The only other player this month to have a wRC+ below 100 was Frelick who was at -1 before he went on the IL

    Minnesota is one game out of a playoff spot and all signs point towards them not selling at the deadline anymore. Lee also has a career 85 wRC+ and horrible underlying batted ball numbers. You'd seriously be willing to trade Pena and more to get a guy with a career 85 wRC+ (100 this year) and a career OBP below .300?

    98 EV, 413ft. It's just comical how far the baseball is traveling in the minor leagues this year. Playing with bouncy balls basically.
