Franmil Reyes

Would Franmil Reyes be a no cost guy to take a flyer on? He struggled with the Royals, but him at AmFam could be worth taking a chance on. He has a pair of 30 HR seasons. He was released by the Royals on Monday. He seems like a better version of Keston Hiura. Reyes could play OF in a pinch but would probably be a RHH DH vs a lefty to replace Voit.

We all know how the organization values versatility & "run prevention". They already have one guy (Winker) they don't seem to want to use defensively, Reyes would make two. As a DH it might be a coin flip between him & Voit right now, but positionally Luke is a little better roster fit.

I'd take a chance on him over Voit at this point considering how bad Voit has been

I agree, if we didn't have Winker or if Reyes could play 1st I'd say yes give him a shot. But as an occasional DH and 4/5th OF he won't get enough ab's.

Reyes was willing to learn & play 1B a couple of years back but his agent put a stop to it unless Reyes got a big contract.  CLE wasn't willing to match the desired contract and since then Reyes has been doing worse & worse.

Maybe he is willing to do learn/ play 1B now (without needing a big contract)..  He needs to do something different to get another chance in the league.
