Meanwhile, lefty Darrell Thompson continues to show he is ready to take his Triple-A promotion and make a run of it. He K's the side in the 7th. And, there wasn't an ounce of meaningful contact. Fantastic inning.

INF Tyler Black is to the dish. 2-2. He is currently 0-for-4. Lays off 3-2 count now. Let's keep that streak goinnnnng. Catchers interference. I am unsure if that counts? I mean, it's akin to a HBP in a way?

Boy, the homeplate ump gives a weakkkkk high strike in a 2-0 count. He tosses pitching coach Will Schierholz in a very heated display. Whewwwww. That was a bad call. Campbell took the full count walk anyhow. Huge walk. Men on first and second. Nobody out. Wes Clarke to the dish. We're knotted 4-4 in the top of the 9th.

Wild pitch. Double steal. Doesn't matter. Clarke and Quero struck out at change-ups down and out of the zone. On to the bottom half. That was a big blown opportunity.

Awwww, Shookster. He gives up a dead center cut heater and that ball is gone. No doubt. 6-4 Biscuits. That pitch can't happen. Ugh. That ball was hanging. A very inconsistent outing: 2 2/3 IP, 4 H, 4 BB, 4 K, 4 ER, 1 HR. he looked dominant in moments. And, then he looked entirely hittable. His up-and-down Double-A work continues.

Sal Frelick might be back. Just ripped a 101 EV HR almost 400ft to RF. He's 2-2 with a 2B, HR, and BB tonight. Also is playing RF.

Call-up might be imminent with them trying to get him RF work. Probably not next week. But maybe the week after.

I don't think it will be imminent. They said they are going to slowly work him back with lots of off days. Maybe by the beginning of July.

Yeah. That’s what I meant. Not next week obviously, but sometime after that. Sooner than later, the needs of the big league club will win out.

I will say, for as much as we all love Frelick (and, rightfully so)...you would think he'd be better as a base stealer. I would argue, he was caught stealing last night (he was called safe). He is CS tonight and also picked off 1B. Great to see the better EV and harder contact - something we've grown accustomed to - but, I would expect better base running and better jumps. He now only has 5 SB to 3 CS and now the PO. That's not a very savory line.

He needs to work with Tyler Black. The numbers should be opposite!

Hey Joseph, the pitch was a change up at 87 that didn't move.  I spoke with TJ about it and it was supposed to be 83 with downward movement.  87 with no movement will get hit a long way as we saw.  As you said, he is up and down right now and is struggling for some consistency.  He is working hard to get there though.  Thanks for your reports!

Awesome feedback. It's mildly funny (if not neurotic😅), I've actually had several moments in between thinking about that pitch. "Man, the way that moved and hung, that had to have been a change-up. His heater was way more lively than that all inning." He was really dominant throughout that inning. One mistake is all it takes in such an unforgiving game!
