I am guessing he has a big arm with that high of an era.

Jackson had committed to the University of Missouri, he'll forego that to join the Crew. As for the limited season:

Back after losing two years to injury, Jackson sports a 95 mph fastball. He has been limited to 14 innings (with 20 strikeouts) by blisters.

“His arm has held up great. That was the scouts’ and everybody’s main concern,” said Razo. “It’s been his finger. We got him healthy about a week ago. When he’s out there we’ve got a chance to beat anybody. We’re excited we should have him for the postseason push.”

Thanks to poster JDBrewCrew for first bringing the Hunt and Jackson signings to our attention!

93-94 but relies on the slider...from what I've read.

Baseball Reference Page - .915 OPS in 2023

FGCU Press Release includes:

Rodriguez will be joining Jason Woodward (Titusville, Florida/Titusville High School), who was drafted by Milwaukee Monday in the fourth round of the 2023 Major League Baseball draft.

Rodriguez started the season with high expectations as he was ranked as the 29th-best catcher in the country, according to D1Baseball.com for the 2022 season. He caught 14 of 38 would-be base stealers, sporting one of the highest caught-stealing percentages in the NCAA.

He earned ASUN Third-Team honors and made 58 starts behind the plate for the Eagles. He boasted a .329 batting average and belted seven home runs while notching 50 RBIs and scoring 48 runs.

He helped the Green & Blue break its single-season record of runs scored (578). Rodriguez made 127 starts in his three-year career guiding the Eagles to 105 wins, including a 42-win campaign last season. He held a career .315 batting average accompanied by 16 homers and 111 RBIs.

Great article on Jackson. Sounds like he was a little immature(just leaving the game 35 minutes...I'm skeptical THAT was the whole reason he was dismissed from the team, particularly after explaining yourself and...presumably apologizing).

But 20 year old kids ARE immature.

It also sounds like this kid has a nice arm, a LOT of projectability at 6'5 180 and already and...who knows?

There are how many stories about guys drafted past rd 20 who had great careers? Smoltz, Pettite, Oswalt, Kenny Rogers. We've had plenty of guys have success who weren't drafted or who we found out of the Indy leagues.

He has a chance and you gotta love the Brewers scouring every source to try and find talent...though I just think what that 40K could have been used for the big league club in Free Agency!

Surprised there have been no formal signing announcements on the draft picks.  There has been plenty of time to get physicals done.  It would be nice to get some of these pitchers to Arizona (and they could use the talent influx)

No need to announce and activate until they are ready to appear in a Maryvale game.

For a lot of these players, they have not played in a live game in several weeks, or even a month or more in some cases. Need to ramp up on the side...

They are still doing physicals and such.  Signings will be tomorrow.
