Arnold’s contract expires after this season.  Though I expect Arnold to be resigned and they are just waiting to see if they need to promote anyone so they can refuse teams from interviewing.

Its fair to ask why Arnold has not been extended as of yet. Until we hear that he has we should consider that both he and Tod Johnson could follow Stearns to NY.

Arnold is in charge of a major league team right now, why on earth would he leave to be 2nd fiddle again? And Stearns is such good friends with Billy Eppler that he's going to just replace him with Arnold?

He can be the top guy here and make whatever the average GM makes which I would guess is 2 or 3 million a year or he can go to the Mets and make 10 with an owner that will pay big money to his entire front office under Stearns. Eppler I'm sure is being paid a lot just because he's friends with Stearns even though everyone knows he's completely incompetent.

Ridiculous. These guys aren't just in it for the money. It's all about showing what you can do as the person that calls the shots. He'll make his money as a side effect.

We will see where his priorities lie but I would understand him or anyone else choosing a far bigger salary over the higher position. The truth is the Arnold contract runs out after the season so we will all find out soon enough.

Its not good for the sport and certainly not good for the Brewers when someone like Cohen can spend as he can. You can bet he will pay Stearns upwards of 20 million per year and will offer several Brewers employees huge raises that this owner cannot match.

Really? Where can I do this? I don't see it on Fan Duel or any other sites, but I'd LOVE to put some money on that! A POBO making...20 MILLION dollars!

Cohen paid 54 million to Houston to buy the two prospects. What a joke.

Did he? Or did he just do what a WHOLE lot of teams have done and pay off part of a players existing salary?

You do get he actually SAVED money in this move, right?

Who says Stearns won't take them with him to New York. Cohen can pay Arnold 10 million without a second thought and throw say 5 million a year at Johnson. Don't discount the possibility of something like this happening.

Me. I say it. And I'm stating it as an absolute fact just as you have with...ALL your other nonsense.

To be clear, the Mets are going to spend roughly what it'll take to sign Burnes long term in order to hire a POBO, GM and our director of Amateur scouting?

Ya know, the thing you really have to ask yourself is...why would Cohen want Stearns? I mean, they spend 350M, nearly 500M with the luxury tax...and given the fact that Stearns was working with and talking to Stearns(proof being his firm paid a fine for insider trading ~20 years ago)...and now they're awful. Why would they even want Stearns?

Have you watched not only how much Cohen has spent on his payroll but the money he gave away in these deadline deals to buy prospects? Its not unrealistic to think he will be paying big money to his front office personnel.

If you havent been paying attention to other sports the contracts given to coaches and executives is going through the roof. Look at the money college football coaches are receiving or check out how much Denver paid Sean Payton.

It is easy to see how Cohen who is twice as wealthy as any other baseball owner and has willingly given other teams money in both the Verlander and Scherzer deals along with even paying the rest of the Canha contract for this season would give Stearns and the rest of his executives staggering amounts of money.

Just for the record I think Cohen should be targeting John Hart or Jeff Luhnow instead of Stearns but its been clear for quite awhile that Stearns is his guy.

No, this is information ONLY you are privy to. And this is the first time ownership has included money in a trade to increase the return for prospects? Man...that is wild! Cohen just out here doing things that nobody knew you were allowed to do! The Rockies definitely didn't do that with Arenado!

You DO make a good point though with regard to entirely different sports like CFB or the NFL where the Coaches make massive sums of money. The Denver Broncos and their ownership group which does not have the financial resources the Mets either from being in a sport where a team makes SIGNIFICANTLY more money, nor does that ownership group have...say 60B dollars(they own this little family story Waltmart or something like that). But them paying Sean Payton a record number DEFINITELY means it's a guarantee that the Mets will pay outrageous salaries for their POBO, a GM(who is apparently going to leave to work under Stearns again) and they'll pay 5M for our top Scout.

The only question now is where can I lay down that bet? Is that with you or is this with someone else?

Or are you just once again being ridiculously over the top and hyperbolic?

So you want two disgraced former executives?

Your position on Hart and Luhnow has always been ambiguous, so thank you for clarifying...

Right, plus, 2 million in Milwaukee is like 10 million in New York City.

Apples and oranges. In the NFL there's a salary cap and revenue sharing so the only way to outspend other teams is through the front office and coaches. In college sports players don't get a salary at all so again the only way to outspend is on coaches. In baseball why spend a ridiculous amount of money on scouts and other front office personnel when you can just buy the players already developed and ready to go? It doesn't take a mastermind to target Corbin Burnes as the best pitcher and pay him more than anyone else.
