After using 14 pitchers and one position player to pitch over the past 3 days, it’s natural to wonder “Who’s left?” to pitch for the ACL Brewers in the championship game.

Well, I see five guys left, two of which have thrown 4 innings in a game this year:
- Brailin Rodriguez - 21 - 8.16 ERA - 4 IP max this year
Felipe De Los Santos - 20 - 7.71 ERA - 4 IP max
- Anfernny Reyes - 19 - 4.85 ERA - 3.1 IP max
- Craig Yoho (8th round pick - reliever) - 23 - 10.13 ERA - 1 IP max
Isaiah Jackson (undrafted signee - reliever) - 21 - 6.75 ERA - 1 IP max

Of course, some pitchers used in prior games will likely be available for an inning or two - e.g. Mark Manfredi, Manuel Rodriguez, Blake Whiting.

But if we expect/need anyone to go long, Brailin, Felipe and Anfernny are the logical guys. I’d predict that Brailin gets the start.

High-A Wisconsin goes for a 4-2 home series win over Quad Cities, with 21-year old RHP Edwin Jimenez (4.09 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, 8.8 K/9 in 101.1 IP) getting the start. 3B Mike Boeve has 29 RBIs in 25 games played.

Low-A Carolina also strives for a series clinching home win today against Columbia. RHP Will Childers (5.26 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, 6.9 K/9 in 49.2 IP) starts the finale. 19-year old CF Dylan O’Rae has hit safely in 18 of his last 19 games.

AAA Nashville aims to close out a 5-1 series win at Gwinnett, with RHP Janson Junk (4.37 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, 6.0 K/9 in 111.1 IP) getting the start today. After a rest day, LF Keston Hiura and his 1.070 August OPS (84 PAs) return to the lineup.

Trevor Werner killing the Mudcats again...just hit a 3-run HR in the top of 1st to put the Mudcats down 4-0. He's absolutely killed the Mudcats in his series. In the series he now has 10 hits, 2 doubles, 4 HR, 9 RBI, and 4 BB.

Nashville picked up a pair of runs top of three with four consecutive walks of Jones, Devanney, Winker and Black followed by a run scoring GIDP by Hiura.

Gave em right back in the bottom half though, currently 2-2 middle of four.

And he hit another HR...5 RBI today. Series numbers to 11 hits, 2 doubles, 5 HR, 11 RBI, 4 BB.

Sheesh. That's incredible output. The early returns on the Royals 2023 7th Rdr are quite good...for the Royals.

And, I was just coming to opine the re-assignment of LHP Darrell Thompson, tho obviously not the desired result for his own career desires, could be huge for the maligned and inconsistent Shuckers bullpen as they push for the Playoffs. Coming into today, the Shuckers remain 1.0 GB of the Biscuits.

Will Childers of the Mudcats pummeled: 8 R, 12 H (6 extra-base hits) in 4.1 IP. Just one K.

I can’t help thinking that Lara (now with Wisconsin) must be a pivotal player/glue-guy.

This team is too talented to be losing 9-0 to anyone. Time to turn over a better leaf next week.

Sounds picked up another pair of runs top of five via Jones single, Devanney single, Winker walk, Hiura single.

But alas, gave them back bottom six. Tied 4-4 top of seven.

Dylan O’Rae doubled and walked, Jadher Areinamo singled twice, Jace Avina doubled, three guys got plunked and that was about all she wrote for the Carolina offense today.

There we go: Hendry Mendez single, then 2-out RBI hits by Ben MetzingerEduarqui Fernandez and Eric Brown Jr.

Rattlers cut the deficit to 4-3 in the 5th inning.

Looks like EBJ came around to score on some combo of stolen base, wild pitch, catcher throwing error to tie it up.

Nashville gonna need at least three runs top of nine to keep this ballgame going.

Jones, Devanney, Winker (on base seven times combined today) due up with Black and Hiura hoping to get a chance to cash them in.

AA Biloxi looks for a 2nd straight win to salvage a 2-4 home series loss to Pensacola. RHP Carlos F. Rodriguez makes his 2nd start of the week (6 IP, 4 R, 4 H, 0 BB, 1 HBP, 6 Ks on Tuesday). RF Carlos D. Rodriguez returns to the lineup after being a late scratch yesterday, while C Jeferson Quero unsurprisingly rests after a nasty foul ball off the mask yesterday.

Boy, I think it's fair to say RHP Will Childers is going to want that Start back. Yikes. 4 1/3 IP, 12 H, 3 HR, 0 BB, 1 K, 8 ER. Lynchburg and Fredericksburg both won tight games today so they both gained a game back from yesterday. Mudcats are back to leading the second half by 2.0 G.

It's ACL Championship Time. Manager Rafael Neda goes back to the lineup from their first two playoff games, with 20-year old RHP Felipe De Los Santos getting the start against ACL D-backs Red:

  1. Cooper Pratt - SS
  2. Juan Baez - 2B
  3. Eric Bitonti - 3B
  4. Satchell Norman - DH
  5. Edgardo Ordonez - OF
  6. Miguel Briceno - LF
  7. Reece Walling - RF
  8. Luis Medina - CF
  9. Yeison Perez - 1B
  • Felipe De Los Santos - P

No score through one inning: Eric Bitonti drew a walk. The Brewers conceded a harmless 2-out single, with Felipe De Los Santos recording one strikeout.

And the ACL Brewers strike first blood, with three singles and a walk to open the 2nd inning. It's 1-0, bases loaded nobody out.

C Edgardo Ordonez (single to CF) got things started and CF Luis Medina gets the first RBI (infield single). Let's put up a BIG number!
