As I consider the 2024 Brewers approach to cobbling its pitching staff together, I was reflecting on the changes to the game of baseball in my lifetime.

1971 was a remarkable year in baseball. I was 10 years old & I already loved baseball. I found is fascinating that one team could have four 20-game winners in the same season. Little did I know that this was rare indeed & would never be repeated.

What an interesting article - well worth your time:

Interesting article. This was news to me:

McNally won 21 games and Cuellar, Dobson, and Palmer each won 20, matching the record of the 1920 Chicago White Sox. Urban “Red” Faber (23), Lefty Williams (22), Ed Cicotte and Dickey Kerr (21 each) did it for the second-place White Sox, the year after Chicago won the tainted 1919 World Series.

They should make a movie about that...

Not sure if yer serious....Eight Men Out is a great movie.  Never ever mentioned when discussing baseball movies but it's a gem.

He's pointing out the error in the article that says the 1919 White Sox won the series.

Yes. I think if Chicago had won, problem solved and no movie. I was living in Cincinnati when they shot 8 Men Out. there. Terrific movie.
