Looking forward to when Jeff Hem interviews RHP Easton McGee.

McGee grew up in Hopkinsville KY, just 75 miles from Nashville, so the appeal of his two-year minor-league deal with the Brewers is evident.

This article with photos includes no quotes, but provides additional background into the appeal of the current 0.00 MLB ERA over McGee's first 9.2 innings.

The former Mr. Baseball from Hopkinsville High School took a no-hitter into the seventh inning of his first MLB start on April 29, 2023, getting a no decision in a 1-0 Seattle loss at Toronto. McGee retired the first 12 batters he faced before a walk to Matt Chapman to begin the fifth inning. He threw only 64 pitches and struck out two.

The Mariners said McGee was the first pitcher in team history to make a start of 6.2 scoreless innings while allowing one hit or less within his first two career games.

That start would be his only appearance for the Mariners as arm discomfort led to the discovery that season-ending Tommy John surgery was needed.

Depending on how the rest of 2024 goes, the 26-year-old (27 in December) could be a Brewers' October 40-man roster add to protect from Rule 5.

Chad Patrick Named International League Pitcher of the Year
Sounds ace won league’s first pitching Triple Crown since 1976

Robert Gasser won this award in 2023.

Extremely well deserved award. Patrick continues to be left off the Brewers org awards but being in the same tier of conversation with RHP Logan Henderson certainly isn't a bad thing. At this stage, for those of us who watched the games, it's abundantly clear Patrick is the starting pitcher with quite a bit more in his bag. In terms of starting 'stuff' with the progression of his cutter in particular, Hunt and Patrick have more in common. Both have legitimate MLB-caliber tools to grow and evolve with - ie legit 5 pitch mixes. Anywho, let's not get lost in the weeds:

I mean this young man pitched at the highest level of affiliated Minor League baseball and did this:

AND, yet there is a remarkably small amount of chatter or recognition. It's just silly. Especially if we consider his last month of Starts.

Freddy Zamora, this time for sure?

Zamora reportedly said YES to the Nicaraguan National Team and the trip to Chinese Taipei for the World Baseball Pre-Classic; naturally, it remains to be seen if Milwaukee Brewers will give permission to their Triple A player who has not yet represented Nicaragua.
