Biloxi Press Release:

The Biloxi Shuckers and Mississippi Braves were postponed on Wednesday at Trustmark Park due to rain. The teams will make up the game on Thursday, April 11 at 5:05 p.m. as part of a doubleheader.

Per the Sounds: Today's game at Memphis has been postponed due to inclement weather. It will be made up in a doubleheader on Friday, April 12, with game one starting at 5:05 p.m. Tomorrow's game remains a single, nine-inning contest with first pitch at 6:45 p.m.

I spoke of this distinct possibility in yesterday's report. During the Memphis telecast - as the pitchers were admirably working through ongoing downpour from at least the 4th frame onward - they mentioned rain was in the forecast every day for the foreseeable future. It certainly seems as though this is the case. Early season baseball in the SE and the Eastern Seaboard is such an unpredictable roll of the dice. The Sounds, for instance, have seen 8 of their past 11 Home openers either delayed, under the threat of delay, or postponed by inclement weather events.

24-year old LHP Mark Manfredi, 9th round pick in 2023, makes his official Brewers’ organizational debut, as High-A Wisconsin aims for a 2-0 series lead in South Bend. 2B Dylan O’Rae has reached base 9 times in his last 3 games.

19-year old RHP Daniel Corniel (5.70 ERA, 1.57 WHIP, 11.9 K/9 in 36.1 ACL IP in 2023) makes his full season affiliate debut for Low-A Carolina and the team also welcomes back 3B Daniel Guilarte (.691 OPS in 265 Low-A PAs last year) for his first action of 2024. They need a home win to even their series 1-1 against Down East.

I wonder if we see the debut of Bishop Letson as well. He’d seem like a logical tandem with Corniel given almost everyone else has already pitched.

It should be either him or Jeferson Figueroa. Those are the only two who haven't pitched this year and I know Figueroa has been stretched in the past.

Pretty impressive control from Corniel thus far, it would appear from the way nearly all the contact is to the opposite field (or center field).

Good to see Cooper Pratt break his mini-skid (0-for-11) with this key 2-run single. And Carolina needed every last run as they held on for the 7-6 win.

Beautiful deep Sac Fly to the LF corner by Kay-Lan Nicasia to score the Mudcats first run. He took an 0-2 count to 2-2 and then just ensured he sent that ball deep toward the wall. Meanwhile Boeve did the fundamental thing ensuring he hit a fly to dead LF to score Lara for an early T-Rats 2-0 lead.

Really nice to see Jesus Chirinos return to High-A and faring quite well. He looks svelte, dare I say. Definitely has transformed his body over the past season plus and it shows. Kudos to him!
