DSL Brewers Uno vs. DSL Brewers Dos again?

I don't see obvious evidence other organizational pairings are happening as often. Did the Brewers request this from MiLB?

Heading into today, the Brewers had 4 of the top 16 hitters age 17 or younger in the DSL per Fangraphs. Pena, Made and Anderson have rightfully earned a lot of attention, but how about the season Juan Ortuno, who reached four times today, is having? Hasn’t hit for quite as much pop, but still has a passable DSL ISO with more walks than strikeouts.

Seems like he has a very advanced approach for a 17 year old. More BB than SO. Big pull rate. Lots of balls in the air.

SS Cooper Pratt returns after missing 2 games and 18-year old RHP Josh Knoth (5.2 scoreless IP with 7 Ks last week) gets the start, as Low-A Carolina seeks a home win over Lynchburg to even the series 2-2.

AAA Nashville have dropped 9 of 13 games and now look to LHP Aaron Ashby (7 ER in 3.2 IP last week) to lead them to a 2-2 series tie at Jacksonville. Hopefully Garrett Mitchell is healthy and headed back to the Big Club.

23-year old RHP Will Rudy (5.68 ERA in 52.1) has had a challenging 2+ months for High-A Wisconsin, who need a home victory over pitiful South Bend to knot their series 2-2. C Matt Wood has hit safely in 7 of his last 8 games.

Knoth is dominating again, though conceded an EBJ/Yhoswar-type run: infield single, 2 SBs, sac fly.

Mudcats trail 1-0 in the bottom of the 5th. Blayberg is the only Carolina player to reach base thus far.

Miguel Briceno collected Carolina's 2nd hit and stole 2nd, followed by an error and a walk  but Di Turi flied out. Still down 1-0 thru 5 innings.

Enigmatic RHP Jesus Rivero has entered for Knoth, hitting the 1st batter he faced.

Logan Henderson slacking in the 2nd inning. After he struck out the side on 11 pitches in the 1st inning, it took him 15 pitches to get through the 2nd inning and he only had 2 strikeouts.

Rivero didn’t make it thru one inning, adding 3 walks after the HBP. He did record 2 outs, then Morris Austin induced a fly out to limit the damage to one run.

Carolina is down 2-0 in the bottom of the 6th inning.

22-year old Logan Henderson seeks his 4th Win in his 4th AA start, as Biloxi aims for a 3-1 home series lead over Pensacola. Mike Boeve is still absent from the lineup, but 3B Zavier Warren has a 5-game hitting streak with 4 XBHs and 9 RBIs.

Mudcats get 2 back via Pratt 2B, errors, and then a single. 2-2

ugh 3rd innings for Ashby and Henderson. Both cruising (or so) for 2. Henderson rebounds to end the inning after a 2B then HR then walk.
Ashby allows triple, wild pitch, out then 4 pitch walk, SB and PB. And finally ends it after allowing 2 runs himself. 4 BB, 4 H in 3 IP. Pitch count 66!! Oh boy. We will see what he can do the rest of the game.

At least it’s been mainly soft contact off of Aaron Ashby thus far, producing 1 earned and 1 unearned run.

Brewer Hicklen hit one 370 the other way for his 13th homer, while Isaac Collins doubled and scored. Joey Wiemer was up twice in opportunistic situations and K’d both times (Capra on 2nd with 0 outs; bases loaded 2 outs).

Nice full-count, 2-out AB by Wes Clarke, hitting one 101.8mph to left to drive in Vinny Capra (who’d singled).

Sounds 3, Jumbo Shrimp 2 in the 4th inning.

Zavier Warren continued his solid form with a 2-run shot in the 2nd inning, with RF Carlos D. Rodriguez following a few batters later with a 2-run double.

Shuckers 4, Blue Wahoos 2 in the 5th inning.

Vinny Capra is 3-for-3 with 2 doubles. Joey Wiemer is 0-for-3 with 3 Ks. Just as we all predicted at this juncture.

Sounds lead 5-2 in the 5th inning. Everyone in the lineup has a hit already, except Joey.

Your brewers affiliates are brought to by the numbers 5-2

Mudcats up 5-2 in the 8th

Through 5 innings, Biloxi and Nashville both up 5-2 as well

The Mudcats followed up their 2-run 6th inning with 3 more in the 7th: an HBP, 3 singles and 2 sac flies did the trick to grab a 5-2 lead. 4 different Mudcats have an RBI, led by Miguel Briceno (2-for-4).

RHP Jeison Pena then scared everyone by giving up a double and a walk, but he produced a great escape (GIDP, ground out). They’re thru 8 innings.

Logan Henderson had the hiccup in 3.  Otherwise nada.

5.2 IP, 10K!! 2BB and 3H (2H and a BB in inning #3). Left a runner on 2nd.  Russell Smith gets the last out to strand ‘em. Still 5-2.  Henderson with a very nice start to his AA career so far.

RHP Easton McGee is making his 2nd rehab start for the ACL Brewers.

This is encouraging, as it appears the rehab appearances of LHP Brandon Knarr and INF Christian Arroyo have been put on hold.

AZ BrewCrew doing things in the first. 2-0. Bitonti in the heart of it with a 2B… although let’s see if it was him, maybe another imposter
