Recently returned pitching with 4 straight quality starts. Has 2-3 years remaining on contract 16M each next two guaranteed.  Pitching half your games in Colorado your entire career would probably mess with stuff game to game home then away. Numbers on career are a little bit better Away of course.  Already 2 of those 4 games pitched 7 innings. Team gets a preview. Offseason pitching lab and he's certainly not going to worse than his career numbers.  I'd think the salary would keep Colorado from getting a decent return unless they paid down some of it.  His splits also show him a better career 2nd half pitcher.

Send Colorado Civale as a payroll counter. Then another Inf/OF type similar what was given up for Civale.

I Also wondered here if Ashby straight up would be possible trading some salaries.

Civale is way better and way cheaper than Freeland.   Not sure I would want to touch that contract with his injury history.  No matter where he has been pitching, I just don't think he is the quality of starter we need - we have lots of those that we can plug in (like Joe Ross).

My guess is that the Rockies would rather just keep him rather than trade him for nothing and srill have to pay most of his salary.

I wouldnt mind Freeland if the Rockies paid most of his salary but his upside is probably like Wade Miley at this point.

meh, if this is what we have to look forward to by the deadline, I'd rather just hold down the fort with what we have,

Freeland blows - Stay away

4-4 since returning on Quality Starts. Freddy is 4 for last 12 starts and continues back is 4 of last 16.

Freeland will have no trouble pitching as a SP through end of season. Getting him not only out of Coors, but the offenses bought and paid for in the NL West, to the poor offenses built in the Central? Think there's hidden upside that for the money is low 20-30 prospect rank headliner.

Depending on the cost, Freeland would be a solid addition, imo. LHP that can work his way through 6IP pretty consistently, which the Brewers obviously need. And he's been doing that at Coors for his entire career. Just a competitive innings eater. Pair him with the Brewers defense and subtract the Coors factor, I think this would be a savvy move.

Completely agree that getting Freeland out of Coors could be a big plus. He would likely slot in as #2 on this current staff. Freddy is still the #1 despite all the garbage he takes on this board IMO

Ok yea, totally missed that part. It wouldn't make a lick of sense to send out Civale to acquire Freeland. But for some lottery ticket prospect(s) I'd consider it.
