Great game for him tonight. I'm not sure what you're getting at.

It's like this in every thread of a Peralta start -- he is a essentially a troll when it comes to Peralta.

Yeah, I see this a lot about Peralta and I'm not sure who you're trusting then, Corbin Burnes is not walking through that door.

I expect Peralta to start Game 1. I think it will be largely a piggyback approach with Peralta, Myers, Civale, Montas, Ashby, Rea, and Hall all eating up 2-6 innings in any individual game depending on the situation and how things unfold.

They are going to try to map out 27 outs per game much like they have in past playoff games and the starting pitcher may or may not even be the main guy in any individual game.

He pitched very well overall, but tonight was yet another piece of evidence as to why Peralta is no "ace". There are a lot of characteristics you can throw out there to define an ace, but to me one would be someone who 1) with two outs & the bases clear does not walk Yasmani Grandal & Nick Yorke back-to-back, and 2) after both those walks cross the plate, doesn't stand in the dugout with a smile on his face because he has 200 strikeouts for the year. Regardless of how meaningless the game is, there are plenty of pitchers that wouldn't be happy about that sequence & I just wish he was one of them. He's set up to throw game one & I think he SHOULD be. I just hated how he finished up that 5th inning.

I’m surprised they pitched Peralta 100 pitches tonight.

That was nothing more than giving him the chance for 200 strikeouts. I think over 25% of his pitches tonite were to the last four hitters he faced. It's like he jumps short hurdles all evening, then when getting to the point of completing 5 innings suddenly there's a twelve-foot high wall. It's happened before, and I think a lot of it is between the ears.

And relative to pitch count, Ortiz throws 23 or 24 pitches in the 1st inning & never even comes close to that total again. Almost as if we went into a mini-vacation after the Bauers HR. For us, putting pressure on pitchers & going deep into counts needs to be a constant, a habit. Grinding in the 1st inning & then taking a mental break from that for the next five won't get it done next week.

Brewers loss mathematically eliminates them from the race for a first round bye.

Dodgers go 0-5, Padres go 2-3, Brewers win out.

Brewers 94-68

LA 93-69

SD 93-69

Not mathematically.

For 2 more innings there's a chance. Dodgers are beating the Padres and if that score holds then we are locked into the 3 seed.

Oops.

I was focusing on the Phillies because for the last few days they had seemed like a slightly less improbable target.

I jumped the gun by a couple of hours.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Your "math" is a conspiracy I choose not to believe.
