I liked the 10/30 more. Theres always at least 2 good teams that lose their division by a few games. I liked the WildCard winner take all game even if it did burn us in 2019.

But yeah 12 is ridiculous and having more would be even worse

Think I'd go with that play in style thing someone mentioned early in this thread.

Or like you said here, the 10 set up before this.  That way all 3 division winnerrs get the same perk rather than one being kinda boned in this one.  Perhaps the compromise from the before since the beef was on the 1 game play in, have the 2 WC teams do the 3 game all at the higher records place.  The 3 division winners all get the bye

A playoff between all the bad teams for the #1 pick defies all logic.

Yes that is why it is good.  It is better than tanking for the #1 pick.  The #8 team could potentially get the #1 pick.  It also allows for those fans to cheer for something when the season is basically one big misery.

Why would you have reverse draft order but then have the complete opposite for the last eight spots?  Why would any player want to take part in something like that?

Order would be the same as the draft if the team is eligible to draft in the top 10.  For example the White Sox wouldn’t be eligible for the playoffs if it was held this year.

Playoff bonus money.

Are you saying they would still have reverse draft order after this "playoff", meaning the team who wins picks 8th?  None of this makes any sense.

It doesn't matter because something like this will never happen and will obviously never even be considered.  Posts like this remind me of that old commercial where instead of a warning track, they have a warning moat in the outfield.

I'm assuming this means 4 playoff teams for the AL and 4 playoff teams for the NL...  Division winners make the playoffs, no one else.

I don't mind this really...

No the team who wins gets the #1 pick.

I am sorry that on a forum that I posted an opinion of what I would like to see.  Next time I will check with you if I should post or not.

I don't believe MLB would do this but I would be fine with this.

I would be against this….and so would 99% of baseball fans once they realized the flip side. Why? Several without thinking about it hard….

A second place team could finish with 100 wins and not make the playoffs and a team with a sub .500 could win their division and make the playoffs,  And a normal occurrence would happen yearly where better record teams would be out of the playoffs simply because of 4 team divisions. And small markets would be stuck within big market divisions with Yanks, Dodgers, etc.

And most obviously the players and owners wouldn’t be for less playoff games and less money.

Well maybe think a little harder before sharing your ideas.  Why would any fan show up to watch that?  Why would any player care?  Why would you have reverse draft order for the other 22 teams but for these teams its based on wins?

You are missing the point.  This is for the top 8 picks in the draft and that is it.  Instead of letting teams tank they need to play for those picks.  If they win the playoff they get the #1 seed, 2 seed 3 seed 4th seed etc....  So if you are the worst team in baseball get ready to play in a playoffs because you could be picking 8th if you don't advance to the final round.

Unless baseball does what football did with a salary cap (never going to happen), this makes no sense. The big money teams already have an enormous advantage! This just gives them even more and the gap widens that much more between the haves and the havenots.
