Any thoughts on if there are any quality young guys that a different team may give up on (cheaper than expected) and we could trade for a good young controllable bat. In all likelihood on the IF but feel free to mention OF. In this case I am looking for someone with some level of major league success but prospects are welcome.

I think Josh Jung comes to my mind 1st, he was great in 2023 but not much this year. The Rangers have a crowded IF and I would love to pluck him cheaply if at all possible.

Not much this year because he was hurt for a good share of 2024...

I HIGHLY doubt the Rangers would be looking to move him............cheaply.

It's hard because there hasn't really been a fire sale like the Marlins since, that I can remember.

Maybe Volpe? If the Yankees sign Adames?

Pages if the Dodgers sign Soto?

I'm trying to think of guys that could be "blocked" if their team signs a FA.

The Yankees said Volpe is their SS and if the sign Adames it would be as a 3B with Chizholm moving to 2B to replace Torres.

I pay the mediocre it takes for baty over bride.

Yeah Baty would cost less and I wouldn’t hate buying low on him. But Bride was a good hitter last year and Miami could use OF help so they may line up better as a trade partner. I also would like to see the Brewers a power hitter who is good enough to hit in the middle of the order, and replace Adames, and try for 2 of those hitters.

losing Adames from a lineup that already started Jake Bauers in a playoff game means and will be relying on injury prone hitters means there are enough average hitters throughout the lineup and I hope they get some actual good ones

If you believe in Brett Baty and his prospect pedigree, he should be attainable and an easy fit at 3B.

Baty has -9 DRS career at 3B. His OAA of -3 and FRV of -1 are a little closer to neutral, but I'm guessing the Brewers wouldn't view fielding metrics like those as an easy fit at 3B with the emphasis they place on run prevention.

Could the O's trade Jordan Wetburg? Mayo, Henderson, Holiday,  Mountcastle/O'Hearn. He isnt a great densive player but could fit in great at 3rd. They still have Urias and Mateo as depth. Would Civale, Peguero, and a decent prospect get Westburg.

The O's aren't trading Westburg. He was on pace for a 4+ fWAR season before the injury. Mayo is not a 3B, so he doesn't impact Westburg's playing time in 2025.

Mayo has played an overwhelming amount of games the past 2 years in AAA at 3B and 12/17 last year in the bigs were at 3rd. I am guessing you meant that Mayo isn't a good enough 3rd baseman to stay there or take Westburg's PT. Mayo will be taking some 3rd base reps though unless they trade Mountcastle which is undeniably more likely than Westburg. I could also jut see them trading Mayo for Crochet and solving that whole thing.
