The Milwaukee Brewers are setting new standards for stolen bases, with Brice Turang emerging as a potential future leader in the category. After reaching 50 stolen bases in 2024, Turang could challenge all-time records, potentially even Joe Morgan’s 689 steals. Despite a dip in his on-base percentage in the second half of the season, Turang's speed remains a key asset, and if he maintains 50 steals per year, he could surpass Morgan's record in 14 seasons. The Brewers' overall base-stealing strategy is thriving, with multiple players contributing. Alongside Turang, others like Caleb Durbin, Garrett Mitchell, and Jackson Chourio are expected to bring speed to the team. Even Christian Yelich, if healthy, could add significantly to the team's total. The Brewers finished 2024 with 217 stolen bases, just shy of the league-leading Nationals. Under manager Pat Murphy, the team has embraced a high-risk, high-reward approach to base running, improving both their offense and success rate. While stolen bases alone don’t guarantee success, the Brewers’ aggressive style could play a key role in their pursuit of a World Series title.
