C Eric Martinez has joined the Rattlers for the time being, likely until Edgardo Ordonez is activated from the IL, and may just serve as a bullpen catcher until that point.

EDIT#2: OK, as I'm reading these reports again, it makes me feel so old that when I see a lot of the Brewers pitchers with fastball velo of 91-95 as average or below average, boy I remember the late 90s and early 00s when our pitchers (not named Sheets) were all 89-91, and those who hit 95+ were high end. Now its 95 average, and 98+ as high end.

Remember that they changed how they measured pitch speed (out of the pitcher's hand instead of 50 feet from the plate), so everyone went up a few ticks since Sheets' era.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

I don't know that I actually knew that. Thank you.

That explains the universal uptick.

However, the percentage of pitchers throwing 95-96+ is still pretty high in MLB, and more than the percentage throwing 92-94+ was back in the day.

Chris' new Monday pods have been so good, but I will note that at the 16:00 minute mark here, he catches up with Josh Flickinger, Media Relations Manager for the Beloit Sky Carp (Wisconsin's current opponent). Josh was a contributor during the earliest days of Brewerfan.com / Brewerfan.net, and it's great to know he's doing well.

”An update on a top Brewers pitching prospect who’s been out for those who might be interested: Bishop Letson, who hasn’t pitched since May 8, has been dealing with some shoulder soreness. He’s tentatively scheduled to start next week.”
