With Henderson starting today does that make it likely that CarRod starts for the Brewers tomorrow? I haven't heard anything but that seems to be logical.

Rodriguez could only be called up to replace an injured pitcher. Not enough days have passed on his optional assignment (eligible as of April 11th).

Hopefully Henderson leans less on the fastball and change and we see more of those secondary offerings. He really needs those to succeed as a starter

I was mistaken, seemingly? We’ll see…

Logan took an inning to get going again. Command was eluding him the first few batters. But then settled in the end of the 1st and was better in the 2nd.

But not great look starting slow the first 2 starts of the season.

Garrett Spain is making the most of his chance atop the order with two first pitch singles.

Ernesto Martinez got the breakthrough hit the other way on a 1-2 count, knocking in 2 runs for a 2-0 lead with 2 outs in the 3rd inning.

Then Jorge Alfaro immediately followed with a 2-run homer, his 2nd hit of the game (and season for him).

Ray Delgado is hitting the ball hard, getting 2 hits for his efforts.

And Caleb Durbin has his 3rd double of the year. Vinny Capra’s rope may be shortening.

I did not imagine that Logan Henderson would throw 85 pitches on 4 days’ rest, but he’s gotten the job done, working around 5 walks.

Offense got a spark. Durbin with a solid double to left center. Then EMJ with a liner down the third base line to score two. Then 3 pitches later Alfaro with a HR. 4-0 Sounds.

Henderson gets through the 3rd with a good outing. Looks like he may have located maybe slider or change better?

RHP Sam McWilliams has faced 6 batters this season and struck out 5.

He’s feeling like this year’s Kevin Herget to this point (throwing 95.2mph, getting the job done).

Monasterio just K'd swinging on a slider down and in. Tossed his bat in total frustration. His early season has been a real grind. Monasterio then let's up on a seeing eye single seeing Durbin shadowing from second base up the middle. Would have been a very rough play had he dove full out. Avoids the hypothetical collision. AND, that's it for McWilliams as the man of many discussions on our board the past year, LHP Tyler Jay, comes aboard with a runner on first and nobody down here in the bottom of the seventh.

2-2 Lazy fly to straightaway CF for out numero uno. Man on first. One down. Two more lefties coming up. Infield squibber flare to the SS/3B side. Delgado charges and catches the weird spinning hop and grabs the out at 1B. No chance for the inning ending DP. Two down.

Henderson was a little erratic in the first, but 5 solid scoreless innings was in a groove 3rd-5th innings. Gave up 5 BB, but had 8K, and only 3 hits - all singles.

And, Jay strands the runner with a 3-1 inside 'heater' inducing a lazy chopper to Durbin who waits the short scoop and casually fires to 1B. We're on to the 8th frame.

I need to go back (I've been running farm dad errands all day) and peruse the Savant Pitch Breakdown and watch those innings. Need to see the Pitch Mix.

Alfaro works an 0-2 count full but K's swinging on a nice sinker up and in. Top corner of the zone. On to the bottom of the 8th. I have to imagine RHP Ryan Middendorf is due for some work.

Looks like a combined 20% usage of the cutter/slider combo. 11 cutters. 5 Sliders.

I may have mistaken his slider for curve, as the announcer didn't call it much and no velo on the broadcast feed. I was not watching live so didn't cross references pitches in statcast

1-1 dead center belt high sweeper hanger is launched just short of the LF wall for a welcome double off Nittoli. Nobody down. Man on 2nd. That's the Stripers first XBH and their fifth poke in total. 5-0 Sounds.

Nittoli grabs a K looking on Cooper. He grabs another out on a sky high pop fly toward the middle foul line LF. He then gets the 2-0 pop fly to shallow LF. Hall makes the call and drops the ball of the end of his webbing. Ugly play. The error scores a run and gets a man to 2B. Can't have that Mr. Hall. That's as routine a play as there is. Hall is 0-for-3, 2 K, with 2 fielding errors. What did I say about the notoriously uber thin OF depth at the highest levels? Please start playing Tyler Black in the OF. PLEASE, Brewers. 😅

Ummmm. Yeah.

Anywho, Nittoli strands the runner with another K. On to the top of the ninth.
