RHP Zach Peek inherits Birchard's two free passes and calmly shuts it down with a gorgeous controlled three-pitch K. Noice! 0-0 and we are on to the 5th.

OF Garrett Spain leads the Sounds (leading 3-0) fourth half with a beauty of an oppo double to the LF corner. Man, Spain has really pleasantly surprised since his early season roster addition. We have to be tickled with his production and effort.

RHP Logan Henderson still pitching into the fifth. He has yet to allow that white pillow thing to qualify as a certain something. Just hitting low 60's pitch count.

In a 0-0 game at Quad Cities, Peek induces an absurdly routine grounder to Eduardo Garcia at SS and he gets sloppy and throws a really poor ball to 1B. E 6. Man aboard.

Meanwhile, the speedy Oliva charges a shallow liner again and makes a casual sliding catch to preserve the 'No No'. Man, he is really solid out there.

Man, RHP Zach Peek has some stuff. He sits 92-93 mph on his heater but it has so much more life given the high-quality nature of his curve ball. Really interesting two-pitch dominant mix out of the Pen. He works around the lazy Eduardo Garcia throwing error (his third of the season) and gets out with a K and a ground out after a fly out to LF. 0-0 at QC headed to the 6th.

Back-to-Back poke singles from Blake Burke and Matt Wood - who pokes a 79 mph bloop single into CF - has two T-Rats aboard with nobdoy down in the top of the 6th. Let's see if they can add something to this 0-0 affair.

Blake Burke picked off swiping 3B - gorgeous throw gets him. Guilarte hits into the inning ending DP. Dang. ON to the bottom half. 0-0.

Through 16 1/3 innings, the Muddies have outscored Myrtle Beach 23-1.

Meanwhile, Luis Pena has his second error tonight - a throwing error we can not see - and he now has four errors in just his fifth game played. Ruh roh?

The Mudcats just scored a couple off Jeral Vizcaino, who if I remember correctly was in the same signing class as Torres.

I only speak RHP John Holobetz right now. I apologize.

Meanwhile, Daniel Corniel just dealt at Quad Cities baby in the bottom of the 6th. Three up. Three down. Included a ridiculous swinging K slider to leave the inning. He just ripped that pitch.

Blake Burke with another gorgeous stab to get the second out in the 7th. He's so much better than advertised. Just really good hands over there.

Well leave it to Deivi García to lose the no hit bid on a lead-off triple into right CF. LOL. That's that. Man on third. No outs. 3-0 Sounds. That would have been the Sounds first No-Hitter since 2017 and the 8th in franchise history. Alas, that's all she wrote.

Meanwhile, at Quad Cities, Corniel just hung a 2-2 slider and Quad Cities is aboard with two consecutive two out doubles. 1-0 Bandits. That was a hanger.

Mudcats win 9-2. Yeah baby. That's a wrap. Sounds lead 3-0 headed to the bottom of the 8th. T-Rats are facing a shutdown Quad Cities staff and trail 1-0 in the top of the 9th with one down. Areinamo in an 0-2 count takes high. 1-2.

This Sounds pitching staff ongoing performance early in this season should not be overlooked. My goodness. They are just dealing staff-wide. The Sounds staff hasn't allowed an earned run in, what, 36 1/3 IP?!? This is wild. Their League-Leading bullpen already bests the next team by more than a run.

RHP Craig Yoho is on to try to secure back-to-back shutouts. He walks the first batter on five pitches. He gets the force out at 2B for the first out on a weak chopper to SS.

Meanwhile, Matt Wood worked a very close walk and in a 1-1 count, Eduardo Garcia reach poked a soft liner up the middle of the infield for a single. Men on 1st and 2nd for the T-Rats. They trail 1-0 in the ninth. Nobody out. Big big moments here for the young men.

Yoho gets a swinging K for the second out on the vintage bottom-drop 78 mph Yoho change. Two down. Man on first. 3-0 Sounds.

Yoho looking for the save gets the 107 mph liner one-hopper to Mona at 3B. He showcases his consistent issues defensively. He zeroes in at 2B with the runner moving. The cover was late. He had plenty of time to focus at 1B with a slow runner. He just continues to show his defensive warts. That's a poor play. Men on 1st and 2nd. Two down. Yoho ahead 1-2. Check swing hold. 2-2 count. He gets the pop out to 1B foul territory. Back-to-back shutouts.

Yoho looking filthy after the first batter. A K, then makes the next batter look foolish and he grounds to SS, but somehow Monasterio didn't get the runner, and still 2 out, but 2 on. And next batter no match for him.

Sounds record back to back shutouts for the first time since last August. Nice outing Sounds!!
