Milwaukee won't trade Peralta unless it impacts the 2026 roster......

Megill gets traded at the deadline with Uribe taking over

A 3B/SS and a high leverage reliever needs to be part of any trade.

SP: Peralta, Henderson, Priester, Hall, Misorowski

* Patrick, C. Rodriguez, Meyers, Wichrowski all could factor in

RP: Ashby, Koenig, Mears, Peguero, Yoho, Mears, Uribe

* Crow, Zastryzny, McGee, Holub, Hudson, Payamps, Yeager

Mears, Peguero and Yoho are all taxi squad....

C- Contreras OK with this

1B- Martinez Sketchy but OK

2B- Turang OK. A move to SS with a healthy arm? Durbin to 2B?

SS- Ortiz Let's see how the rest of the season goes.

3B-  Free Agent? Black hole.  Rooting for Durbin.  Pratt, Wilkens, Adams and Boeve seem more like 2027.

OF- Yelich, Frelick, Mitchell, Chourio   OK with this.

Bench: Quero (C- Contreras DH's more), Durbin (Utility IF), Black (OF/1B), Free Agent SS OK with this if a SS is signed via free agency

* Ziegler, Boeve, Wilkens, Pratt, and Adams could provide competition.

I”m conflicted … the older I get, the less I like delaying the long-awaited World Series return for Milwaukee.

That said, I hope Arnold doesn’t trade away any top prospects to add a stopgap bat or two to this year’s team.

My reasoning: I can’t imagine this team winning a playoff series against 4 or 5 of the top NL teams in 2025.

I do hope we improve the offense IF we can do so without losing several prospects that we all want to see in Milwaukee by 2027.

Durbin is a rookie with less than 200 PA still, and while 80 wRC+ isn't great that still makes him above replacement level overall. Probably worth it to give him more time, I still think he could be a decent player. Similarly, Ortiz is much better than the 44 wRC+ he has so far. How much better? Remains to be seen.

Looking at the farm, there's Seigler, Boeve, Adams, Wilken and Pratt all in AA or AAA (Black likely will never play 3B again, but not impossible). Further down there's obviously Made and Peña a few years more away.

So take that together, and I don't see the need for a big-time blockbuster trade or FA signing for the left side of the infield. By all means try to find a veteran stopgap, hope to get lucky like the Mets with Iglesias in 2024 for example. But I wouldn't spend any real resources on it. Or on a reliever.

I'd look to trade some expiring contracts at the deadline if the situation allows (Standings, how well the AAA replacements are performing, roster health etc). For 2026, look for the abovementioned stopgap. But other than that, be opportunistic. As in don't look for a perfect fit, look for players available for less than what you value them at.

I like Durbin a lot. He's a...cliche, but a winning player. Just as a utility player. Maybe he could hit enough to start at 2B, Turang to SS, just give Ortiz a couple weeks, but I see some signs he's coming around.

I'm looking for the players the Brewers have to either add to the 40 or expose to the rule 5 this year(so we don't have another Shane Smith situation...which would be 10X worse if the Brewers weren't pulling pitchers out of hats like a magician).

But there are some clear players that are...nearly untouchable. Pena, Made, Misi, Chourio(despite Steve "the Homer True" imploring the Brewers to just eat 20M of it if they can find a team to take him)...Quero, Payne, Letson...hell, just...most of their young prospects. I know of that group, minus Chourio, many will never be more valuable, but I don't want to trade even Bitonti and then watch him become a Cody Bellinger-esque player. Or worse, Made/Pena and whatever the hell they can become(2 SS's with their upside...Made/Pratt/Pena could be a dynasty core). Luke Adams is another guy I think is really under the radar. If he can be a .220/.340 type guy who hits 25, steals 15 and he should play good defense at 1st, or Wilken, his power is showing up in a big way.

I think once it starts with these prospects, it's just going to start pouring. It's one reason I would give Turang an offer for a 6 year 40M extension with a couple options and if he passes it up...no harm. That's a guy who is on pace to put up ~10 WAR over the '23 and '24 seasons....

But Ernesto Marinez? I'd imagine he'd be picked and is he going to be added? Perhaps, but someone of that ilk is about as much as I'd give up....as things currently stand.
