But Collins is one of the key players on this team. Cubs fans melting down, talking about how the Brewers are "satanic" and "ruining the game" for everyone else by making it "harder and uglier," is...absolutely beautiful. One of the players doing that is Collins.

Black’s trade value is probably quite minimal at the moment. I don’t see how coming off the bench and going 1 for 7 in the next week is going to change that at all.

Someone would take a shot on him, sure, but I don’t read much into the move.

Maybe that's exactly what a few prospective teams wanna see from Black, too? To see if he takes advantage of this opportunity or not. How he does at the MLB level. I have a strong feeling that he'll be traded by the deadline.

He’s not going to play enough to do anything for his trade value.

Murphy said Bauers had an MRI and got pretty specific with what they were looking at and what they found.

Conspiracy theories are usually bad takes……..but some people still love them.

And over time, many conspiracy theories end up being proven, that they actually weren't "theories" at all. Too many people refuse to think outside of the box.

The only question now is what the hell do you do with him when Hoskins gets back? Try to make it to Sept so you can keep both of them?

That's what I wonder about in all this. For those who like theorizing about jerking around with the IL, that might wind up being a textbook case.

For all his recent struggles, it seems they like Bauers as a bench piece so I'm not 100% convinced he's never coming back as some have theorized.

He may or may not comeback……but unless people think Murphy is just making stuff up about Bauers having an MRI it seems obvious that he is hurt now.

What happens when he is healthy again is a different issue…….he is in his last season and they may upgrade at the deadline or they may not.

They certainly didn’t upgrade by bringing up Black……other than as a pinch runner.

Well...I don't think they'd actually need to jerk around with it since Hoskins could just wait until the rosters expand.

As for Bauers, I like him also. I think he's a little underrated. He was struggling, but for his role, a backup 1B who can play in the OF, a late inning defensive replacement and a guy with some pop, you can do much worse.

No, I don't imagine they did... though I thought Vaughn would be awful and I didn't like that move. So perhaps Black just getting healthy will show us a little bit.

This is a guy who WAS a top ~50 prospect not long ago. Great plate discipline, he had pretty good hands at 3B defensively. And he's got good speed.

He's been terrible, but... there was something there. I'd like to see him play right away, but... it's kinda tough as the best lineup is Collins/Perkins/Chourio in the OF and then Vaughn and Yelly 1B/DH, but it's also better for the player to get PT right away.

What opportunity? The trade deadline is in 10 days. Sigler has been up for 3 weeks and he’s had a total of 11 ABs.

If there’s any team out there that wants Black, they’ve already done their scouting and homework on him by this point if they think they can turn him around and want to take a shot on him.

There isn’t a GM that is competent enough to make it to the MLB level who is going to be influenced one way or another if Black gets to the plate and laces a double into the gap in a couple ABs this week.

He could be an option at first base.  I hope Andrew Vaughn has magically figured it out and will turn his career around in Milwaukee, but that's probably not going to be the case and we could platoon at 1st.

A couple/few weeks before the deadline, prospects are often brought up, right before they're traded. That's no secret.

🤔

I'm not saying he can play 3rd, I'm saying he should be able to handle 1st.

His issue was less with fielding and more with throwing... as far as I saw. Also, the bar right now without Bauers is not high defensively.

Can’t think of a single time that’s happened in Brewer history. Maybe Brett Phillips in 2018.

Not sure one has much to do with the other. Guys get traded at the deadline. Some are bound to be AAAA/borderline prospects.

”Showcasing” a guy is more a fan perception thing than anything. Modern GMs are too smart to base anything off a week or two worth of ABs.

Yeah, these guys are still scouted and scouted even more before the deadline. It's not like they all have comprehensive scouting reports on each player.

A couple doubles in the gap aren't going to change his value, but his bat speed and exit velocity, it could certainly help his value.

Yeah, that's what I was getting at. Maybe "jerking around" is a bad definition on my part for keeping him off the roster & eventually on rehab while waiting until 9-1 when he may actually be ready before then. Save for Vaughn getting hurt or falling off the face of the earth, that's what I expect.
