Baseball rule change proposal

Make all foul balls half-strikes.

There are no foul ball fly outs; they are simply half-strikes.

3 strikes and you're out DOES NOT change.

3 1/2 strikes?  You're out!

that is the most ignorant rule change suggestion I have ever seen

Brewers had their shot in game 1. Snell left the game and suddenly they're all over the bases and being what we've seen all season.

Brice, man I wish he'd have let himself take that HBP but instincts took over. I do think that the Brewers hitters do need to have a mindset in those situations where taking a HBP is something they need to have some awareness of. I feel like I see other batters do this and maybe it's just having that as part of the litany in your head as you prepare to receive a pitch. Be prepared. If you expect that an opportunity for a HBP can come then it's easier to control your instinct to react rather than just being surprised by it.

It's hard for me to really fault them for not hitting enough against two really talented starting pitchers for 8 and 9 innings. Baseball is hard. They need to get into the bullpen. No guarantees there either but that's been the formula.

Hope isn't lost but they're in a hole. Keep fighting.

I’m irrationally pissed at Brice and wish I wasn’t. (I did say irrationally. I understand that it’s irrational, but I remain pissed).

If Brice doesn’t move we’re almost certainly winning the game. We’ve got Vaughn up with the bases still loaded and Trienen is all over the place with just a walk, wild pitch or hit away from game over, and even if that doesn’t happen, extras.

This franchise hasn’t been to a World Series in 43 years so of course the guy we send up to the plate didn’t have the foresight to think “I’ve got to wear one if it comes at me”.

Easier said than done, I suppose. You’re right, the entire series turned on that one pitch and when he whiffed on the next one you just knew we missed our shot.

At the point they commented that the Brewers as a team had a chase rate over 50%. That is certainly an anomaly

So you missed the Cubs series, and never watched PCA at the plate ??

Only quibble I had is that I think they had a shot to get to Yamamoto early.  They chased a lot of pitches in the first couple of innings before he settled in, and as noted above I wasn't watching every pitch after the 5th.  Be nice to get game 3 and have some fun.

Yeah. They couldve capitalised after Chourio's bomb and later with the Vaugh error. But oh well

Why haven't you put me on your ignore list by now ??

Then you won't have to speak for others when I comment on this board.

If you don't like me, then "ignore me".

(it's a built in feature of this board designed just for guys like you).

I didn’t say I didn’t like you. I clarified what @wiguy94 was trying to say and said I think you know what he was trying to say.

FWIW, I don't think it's designed for guys like you.  I think it's designed for guys like him.

Much appreciated, and frankly, he probably gave me some good advice in that last post.

They have had terrible swings at balls costings some walks.

Not just the guys you mentioned, either. Not barreling many balls, hitting a few "at 'em" balls, not getting hits on a blooper or a swinging bunt---that stuff happens. But it's a killer when you compound it like we have. The lengthy ABs & the walks drawn has been a huge part of the teams' success this year. Without looking it up it seems like the walks have dried up considerably since the 14 game streak.

Great point about the chasing, too. Lots of 1-1 counts lately that should become 2-1 but are 1-2 due to over-aggressiveness. When you compare it to some of the ABs you saw from LA last night it was glaring. The # of quality pitches Dodger hitters have taken this series---not strikes, but still quality pitches---it's frustrating but still so impressive. Both the Muncy & Hernandez HRs were fully earned--not so much by the swing that put the ball over the wall, but how the AB was constructed before the final swing.

Why isn't there a Game 3 thread yet ??

I think fan enthusiasm is dwindling, honestly.

MLB's Big Market Takeover Plan is working perfectly right now.

Yeah I honestly don't care which of the two, just that they both start games 3 and 4 so we can force a game 5 and hopeful return to Milwaukee

Glasnow can be tough, but if he goes more than six it'll be real disappointing.

Hell, if he goes 7 or more & LA wins, maybe they'll only WANT Ohtani to go 4-5 innings. They'll be up 3-0 & the pen might need work.

Unfortunately, it’s a staff full of aces with no easy outs. It’s on us at this point. We can hit elite pitching when we’re right. We’ve always hit Skenes well. Yamamoto didn’t even make it out of the 1st last time, and then he goes 9 yesterday.

Game 1 felt like it was more about how amazing Snell was and Game 2, not that Yamamoto wasn’t great, felt more about us not swinging the bats well.

Moreso than in game one, yeah I'd agree with that.

TV ratings have been up for this post season.

Maybe everything you don't like isn't some grand conspiracy?

Chicago made the playoffs, which is a giant consideration there.

Local and national TV ratings have been up significantly during the entire regular season and playoffs. Fan interest overall is trending upwards, not down.

I'm talking about Brewers fan enthusiasm after the first 2 games against the Dodgers, @yfinn6 !!!

Take it easy, my friend.  🥰
