Game 8: Panthers @ Packers - Sunday, Nov 2nd 12:00 PM

The Panthers are a surprising 4-4... but less surprising when you look behind the scenes (and who they beat)

  • Bryant Young still looks like the same QB he has been the last couple of years; save for scoring a few more TDs.  Low completion percentage, short throws, and an interception in over half the games played.
  • Young didn't play last week and Andy Dalton is his backup.
  • Probably more dangerous is their RB Dowdle who put up over 200 yards on the Dolphins.
  • A league average defense per yards given up, but dead last in points.

If the Packers get ahead early, this should be a cakewalk.

  • WHOA SOLVDD 1

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

trap game with Philly on deck

Panthers also have Chuba Hubbard who has put up over 2000 yards rushing and 15 TDs the last two seasons combined. He's also a decent receiver out of the backfield. Dowdle has been stellar the two weeks Hubbard was out with injury and it's natural Hubbard has lost carries to him since his return but that's not a bad one two punch in that backfield.

I mean... it has the characteristics of a trap game, but the talent gap is so big here, if they don't dominate this game, there's an issue.

Panthers have a couple nice OL, a young WR, Young's a smart and accurate QB, but below average. And the defense is not impressive.

This SHOULD be a 42-17 type game.

Maybe they keep it close early but the Panthers are not on the Packers level.

Well yeah there's a reason they are double digit favorites. They should win by 2 scores at least. CAR is all beat up on the offensive line and the only way they can win is if they dominate the line and run the ball at will. I don't see that happening as GB should be able to get a lead on them and force them to throw.

It's disappointing that McDuffie got held because he was going to stuff that and give us great field position, but still a great start by the defense.

Not great vision by Williams there to run up the back of the only blocker.

Shouldn't running 80 yards to the end zone on a play blown dead be called a delay of game?

It’s a change of possession and I’ve never seen them call it that way, often they finish it in case the whistle was never blown.

I was about to riot if that flag stood.

That's a bunch of BS. Young was in bounds easily.

Good on the refs to realize their mistake. How do you miss that one so badly?

It looked initially like he started to slide and then balked. So I think that’s how the call was missed, they threw the flag thinking there was a slide at first.

Another game we should be dominating that we’re not, at least so far.

Can't put the ball on the ground, especially in the red zone.

Maybe don’t just stand around on defense after a fumble that is being advanced.
