- OF Kay-Lan Nicasia released by AA Biloxi

Born in the Netherlands, raised in Curaçao and drafted in the 16th round as an infielder out of a Florida high school in 2021, the now 24-year old Nicasia has 981 plate appearances across 4 minor league levels (ACL to AA).

Shifted to the outfield in 2022, Nicasia had solid 2022 (ACL: .776 OPS) and 2024 (Low-A: .745 OPS) seasons. Known for a strong arm, Nicasia posted a .611 OPS at High-A Wisconsin in 2025, then had 42 PAs for AA Biloxi this April. We wish him success in his next opportunity.

"Starting RHP Miqueas Mercedes (3 1/3 IP, 2 R, 4 H, 0 BB, 3 Ks) exited after a strikeout and injury delay in the top of the 4th inning. Hopefully he’s okay and was simply on a pitch limit (51, with 36 strikes), given that he was throwing on 4 days’ rest."

* Given how well Waguespack has pitched for the Sounds at 32 years of age I tend to think this is an agreed upon arrangement so he may pursue a MLB roster opportunity elsewhere.

Immediately as he uncorks the strikeout pitch, Mercedes winces in pain and reaches towards the left side of his torso. I hesitate to call it an oblique injury with zero doubt, but it's definitely related to the side muscles.

Wisconsin Timber Rattlers placed RHP Michael Fowler on the 7-day injured list.

In his most recent game on Sunday 5/3, Fowler threw 52 pitches in relief. There was no evidence of injury on his final pitch before being pulled.

BILOXI, MS – The Biloxi Shuckers and Milwaukee Brewers have announced the signing of OF Mark Coley II to a minor league contract.

The linked MiLB Player Page shows that Coley was released on the 17th after three full years in the Marlins' system, topping out briefly at AAA. There are also video highlights available at the bottom of that page. 25-year-old RH bat with experience across all three outfield spots, 61 steals in 72 career attempts.

Baseball America posted their monthly transaction summary with an indication that Foley’s deal covers two seasons (thru 2027).

Side note: OF Greg Jones yet to be added to the Sounds roster after his outright off the 40-man. Nothing nefarious here, the CBA allows a 7-day reporting window. Just stating that the AAA OF depth will be a bit thin (Lara, Hurtubise, J. Adams, Leonard).

Congratulations to RHP Garrett Hodges, promoted from Wilson to Wisconsin. Eleven free passes (9 BB, 2 HBP) in 18 innings of relief, but only seven hits allowed and 25 strikeouts.
