INF/OF Weston Wilson has officially cleared DFA waivers and has been outrighted to Norfolk by the Baltimore Orioles. Like Bryan Hudson above, Wilson will have to accept the assignment - his first outright while lacking the required three years of clocked MLB service time.

I liked always Wilson when he was in our organization, thought he had the versatility & enough of a bat to be a nice bench piece. I'm a little surprised he cleared.

Rays 2B prospect Jadher Areinamo won Rookie of the Year in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League.

Areinamo was shut down after just 36 games in the winter season, but that was more than enough time to impress. The 22-year-old hit .364/.420/.692 with 13 home runs, 43 RBI, and five steals. He was acquired from the Brewers at the deadline last year for Danny Jansen. This has the makings of a great return after Areinamo also impressed in 131 games split between High-A and Double-A last year.

I'll say it once more: I was behind the idea of trading for Jansen to beef up the depth at C, but didn't like that it cost Areinamo. MINF was getting pretty crowded in the system but that felt a little steep.

Nice article back in January on 2025's brief Brewer (signed in the off-season and traded in April for Daz Cameron and cash) LHP Grant Wolfram. Touches on the real success he experienced out of the Orioles' Pen as the season progressed including the unleashing of a sweeper he had worked on with the Orioles staff and debuted in MLB games in September. It appears he and the Orioles are a very good match at present. He opened his ST action yesterday vs the Yankess with a clean 1.0 IP with 3 K. You love to see it! Keep it going, Grant!

That is so cool. I mean bittersweet.  Still upset that they didn’t protect him - yup therapy is helping but still can’t let go yet lol -  but what a cool story as an non-drafted FA and the Brewers took him on and helped develop him, and then he is a rule 5 draft pick and now an opening day starter. And yeah yeah opening day starter is not what it used to mean decades ago, but still that’s awesome for that young man. I think it was Seth who did what 2 interviews with Shane, and he came across as a humble, hardworking kid who seemed so grateful for the chance to prove himself in the minors and get a chance to make the bigs.  So good job Shane, and congrats.  He is probably completely unaware of the cohort of fans he still has here at BF.net
