19-year old RHP Carlos Carra struck out 7 in his last outing (3 IP, 2 R) and now leads to lead Low-A Wilson to a win at Delmarva to even this week’s series 2-2. CF Pedro Ibarguen has an 8-game on-base streak.

20-year old RHP Bryce Meccage did not allow any earned runs in his last 2 starts and now seeks to deliver a series-clinching win for High-A Wisconsin at Fort Wayne. 3B Andrew Fischer has a 6-game hitting streak and bashed 2 homers yesterday.

The Waukesha man hit Coleman Crow’s 2nd pitch of the game out for a solo homer, but Eddys Leonard (.329 AVG, .971 OPS) answered with a solo shot of his own off of Shane Smith in the 2nd inning. Nashville 1, Charlotte 1 in the 2nd.

A hit-by-pitch and 2 walks put Nashville in business in the 3rd inning and they've capitalized on a Brock Wilken 3-run triple. Jett Williams knocked Wilken in and we lead 5-2.

After allowing a game-tying homer and 2 walks (the latter on a full count ABS challenge which extended the inning), the Sounds discussed and elected to let Crow continue at 87 pitches.

That choice didn't work out: 3-run homer. Crow exits at 91 pitches, allowing 8 earned runs. Charlotte 8, Nashville 5 - now in the 5th inning.

Jaron DeBerry walked the first 3 batters of the game and barely escaped the 4-run 1st inning (31 pitches).

He then started the 2nd inning with a single, balk and walk, but escaped that jam and kept battling to nearly got thru 4 frames with just the 4 runs allowed.

He exited after 3.2 IP, leaving 2 baserunners for Patricio Aquino, who issued 2 walks and balk and allowed a single for 3 fourth inning runs.

In between all that, doubles by Keith, Eduardo Garcia and Coley had helped tie the game 4-4 in the 2nd inning.

Biloxi now trails 7-4 in the 5th inning.

Wisconsin is resting Pena, Payne, Bitonti and Dickinson today and only managed an Adamczewski walk the first time thru the order.

No biggie. Second time thru: Adamczewski walk, Dinges single, Fischer oppo taco 3-run homer.

Bryce Meccage has tossed 3 shutout frames on 1 hit and 1 walk. Wisconsin leads 3-0 in the 4th inning.

And then proceeded to score 11 runs. Quite the offense they have in Appleton right now.

This is last years Mudcat team - never fully out of it.

the question is who takes the Shuckers mantle as the team who starts slowish and then has an a great first half as well?…….

Probably the Rattlers as well. They’ll  get Thompson and Morrison added to the rotation soon and then they’ll really take off.
