Tue. 6/9: Sounds and Rattlers Begin Homestands

tough night for Luis Pena, who once again has to exit the game.  Came up limping after legging out a strike out on a wild pitch

Hardin is out for the 6th and gives up a homer with no outs. Next batter hits a ball to deeep left that Black is able to get to, but Tyson is giving up some hard contact this inning.

Oh but he comes back with back to back K's to Dunn and Morgan!!! A strikout swinging and a foul tip end what has been an amazing performance. 11 strikeouts!!

Sounds go K-F7-K for a quick 1-2-3. 

Hardin is done for the night after a spectacular performance and Koenig is in to pitch in the 7th.

He gets a ground out and then gives up a wierd single. Bouncing ball to third that Jett caught as he hopped over the bag. No throw and it looked like he thought it was foul but the ump ruled it fair. Jared gets a K looking and then a pick off! Looked good in that rehab outing. Boy does the MLB bullpen need him.

Badoo grounds out sharply to short, Wilken flies out to right and Leonard gets his second hit of the night on a 2 out ball hit to left field past the diving shortstop. Jett hits one weakly on the ground to second and the inning is over. Looks like the bats are done for the night.

Junior Fernández is in for the 8th. Gets a fly out and then a hit to left field. Another play where Black's lack of defensive acumen showed. That ball was in the air for a long time but Black had a bad jump and lacked the closing speed/ability to slide to make the catch,

Woof the defensive miscues continue. Ball grounded to Leonard and it eats him up. What should have been a GIDP to end the inning is now 1st and 2nd with 1 out. Oh and Quero missed a challenge. Lovely.

Now another ball grounded to Leonard (by old friend Raynel Delgado) who tags out the runner at second. Runners at the corners with 2 outs.

No dice. Ball grounded into left field past the diving glove of Pratt scores a run. Then Black's throw to third is wild and Fernández wasn't backing it up so it goes all the way to Quero and its runners at second and third with 2 outs.

Junior strikes out Trey Morgan (who has a diamond sombrero tonight sheesh) and escapes the defensive meltdown giving up only one run.

Pratt walks to reach for the third time tonight (2H 1BB), Lara flies out to center and then Adams is hit again!! 3rd time tonight! He will be sore tomorrow morning!

Black gets an infield hit and Quero has the bases loaded.

He strikes out but Badoo walks in a run! Wilken strikes out and to the 9th we go.

Now Quero reaches on a throwing error that the firstbaseman Morgan could not pick and the Sounds extend their lead to 3-0

Badoo (who already homered) is up.

Cutter velo was where it was last year. Sinker velo was down 2.5mph compared to last year
