The Athletic just posted an article indicating the Brewers had interest in CJ Abrams this past offseason, and are expected to reexplore their interest soon. Very interesting to me. Obviously the left side of the infield is the biggest spot to upgrade but with the Pratt extension + Made, its a weird spot to make a long term upgrade at. Maybe they believe they can move Abrams to 3rd?

He’s never played an inning of 3B.

I think you’d have to move Pratt plus a very high end prospect like Pena and then maybe one more prospect outside the top 100 to even get the Nats interested. Then Abrams would start everyday at SS and Ortiz would stay as a platoon 3B plus late defensive replacement at SS.

I don’t think it would be the best move for the org to deal Pratt after the extension. They’ve shown a willingness to move guys to new positions in the past

Some teams (maybe Brewers included) say they don’t like his SS defense as see him as a CF instead, would make more sense for us in that case

Would it? With Mitchell, Chourio, and Lara? Obviously Abrams' bat has been ridiculous but I think it's a stretch to think he'd move to CF with no experience in his whole professional career.

The Brewers have shown a better aptitude than just about any team at teaching guys to play 3rd on the fly. He has a left side of the field arm with athleticism…..don’t think its really that big of a road block.
