Yes we have a lot of OFers but Frias has a higher ceiling than every single one of them. Lara, Adamczewski, Payne, Ragsdale, Strosnider, Jones, Antunez, all of them
Im totally fine including Ragsdale. Hes overperforming hard right now. Frias is the one that hurts, his potential is sky high, 115 MPH exit velos and a rocket launcher of an arm, plus good speed. Already showing good power albeit it was mostly in the DSL and he’s cooled off at the A level.
Frias might end up being a nobody but trading him for 2 guys who likely don’t change the future NLCS result (Dodgers 4-0 sweep of us) is bad to me. Thumbs down me but I don’t care
Alexander Frias and Josiah Ragsdale. Feels like an overpay for 2 guys who likely don’t move the needle much for us. I’m a prospect hugger but Frias is a big loss imo
I’m interested in these players, however Detmers will be far more expensive than Gausman, Detmers has without looking it up I believe 3.5 years control left, and is top 10 in MLB in Ks and top 15 in WHIP. Gausman is a rental, is 35 years old and having a bad season by his standards. Also depends how much salary of his Toronto would eat to get more return.
It was said the Brewers already checked in on Detmers and Brewers balked at their price (My guess is it was Pena plus 2 other lower guys)
Gausman I imagine you could get away with like Josiah Ragsdale and a teenage pitcher to get him
Tigers got tricked by the top 100 label, River Ryan is nearly 28 years old man.
Z. Hope as the center piece makes me think Tigers would’ve accepted Pena and 2 lesser ranked guys but Brewers weren’t willing to send Pena.
Made off the table, if it includes Henderson either they wouldn’t do it, Pena for a rental seems extremely unlikely. If they were to send one of those 3 it would likely be Pena tho.
Might be a pre-Quero trade. Quero ain’t the C of the future any more, his shoulder is f’d. So maybe this isn’t a Sanchez replacement maybe they are moving Quero and Naylor will be the AAA C depth.
They def won’t extend him, can just play it out and still get plenty of production if he ends up good, but I’m like 75% sure he’s more Russell Branyan than Prince Fielder. Way too risky to pay Fischer. Branyan had about 675 hits and 194 career HRs but 1100 Ks. And Branyan is one of the most direct comps to Fischer’s minor league stats actually. Both with over 30% K rates despite the HR #s. Fielder actually had a very low K rate in the minors (19.5%). Kyle Schwarber was like 23% in his last full minors season. Fischer’s in zone whiff rate is higher than every single MLB player this year while facing A+/AA pitching
I’d be willing to send Fischer as the centerpiece of a Skubal deal
Seeing some newly drafted guys on other franchises start to debut in the minors. Saw a video contrary Ebel taking BP at the rookie level. Do we know when our draftees will debut? Curious to see if they put Strosnider and Kyle Jones at Appleton which I assume they will.
Payne, Strosnider, Jones would be a stacked outfield
Luis Pena, Braylon Payne, Eric Bitonti, Daniel Dickinson, JD Thompson, Bryce Meccage, Josh Knoth, Jayden Dubanewicz some of the guys in Appleton currently
Andrew Fischer, Josh Adamczewski, Josiah Ragsdale, Marco Dinges all left for AA recently
So the Brewers have to include 24 year old stud Henderson, Pena and more but the Dodgers only have to send a 26 year old Brandon Sproat clone and one prospect? Make it make sense
Doubt it, Im kind of exaggerating but they have 5 prospects in the MLB Pipeline top 25 and do they have any reason to think they couldn’t reload the chest and have that same amount come this time in 2028?
Unironically the Brewers might have to offer that to get Skubal. I’m not saying they’ll even consider that but the Dodgers are absolute mad men and going to outbid anybody for him.
