Corey Hart: Player of the Month?

Hart is 12th in BA, 1st in SBs, 3rd in HRs, and 2nd in RBIs for the NL in June. He's also 3rd in OBP (1st is that washed up Bonds guy with a .535(!) OBP in June).

I think we could see another Brewer player of the month.

Throw in how well the Brewers have played, and he definitely has a shot, he probably should be the favorite. I can't think of anyone who's been better than him this month.

Hart is 5th in OPS behind Braun, Soriano, Utley, and Bonds. Given that baseball would rather fold up then give anything to Bonds, he's out. Braun has a 1.147 OPS but "only" 5 home runs, likely knocking him out. Utley only has 4 home runs, so he likely doesn't have a chance. So my guess its likely Hart vs Soriano:

Hart:

340 BA, 9 HRs, 10 SBs 21 RBIs

Soriano:

.342 BA, 11 HRs, 2 SBs, 18 RBIs.

Griffey had 10 HRs, but given the dismal state of the Reds and a BA of .309, he'll have a chore to make it.

Not only does Corey almost have to be considered a candidate for player of the month, doesn't Ben Sheets almost have to be considered the leading candidate for pitcher of the month?

I think you might have the wrong Brewer:

If you lower the PA threshold to 50 PA, 3 of the top 6 in OPS are Brewers!

I bet Soriano wins it, though. Might be decided during this weekend series, however.

Sheets looks to be doing well himself:

Unless the Brewers sweep the Cubs, and Hart continues to rake the whole way, my money is on Soriano. Just because very few people know who Corey Hart is yet, and Soriano's an established star.

Hart deserves the win though, he's been our catalyst lately.

Hart now tied for 6th in the NL in stolen bases at 16 with David Wright. Next on his radar Willy Taveras who has 18. Of course he would need to steal a lot of bases to catch the guy in 1st. Jose Reyes has 38.
